Fact is Grimes was being to Marcus Rashford thinking he was being clever by telling him he doesn’t have the right to do what he complains everyone has the right to do. Why doesn’t Marcus Rashford have the right to a political opinion in Darren Grimes mind?

FWIW yes this is my take when those on the left complain about online abuse as well. It’s almost always a handful of low follower accounts or very tenuous claims. There is no great homophobic outpouring against Grimes, just a man who wants the people taking the piss to shut up.

Like I said in my first post. Darren Grimes does himself no favours whatsoever when when his response to a missed penalty is to tell the person taking it that his political opinions need cancelling. He’s promoting hatred of a young black footballer from the sidelines for no other reason than he doesn’t share his political opinions. If Rashford was a dribbling Tory pleb who only tweeted what a great job Boris is doing he wouldn’t have said fuck all to Marcus Rashford when he missed the penalty and you know it. I suspect that Marcus Rashford missing the penalty was the highlight of Darren Grimes year. I would be surprised if he had his tweet all typed out ready to press return in preparation for the possibility of Marcus Rashford taking a penalty.

I’d rather focus on the massive support our country has shown for the lads especially when contrasted with how we behaved when England missed pens previously. What an amazing example of societal progress.

If Johnson and Patel and the rest of the culture warriors just went “yeah that was stupid well done England sorry for not backing you” it would all go away, but instead they’ve got to double down.

Don't know if he made any. David Starkey did when he Grimes interviewed him though, Grimes never pulled him up about it and was gushing about Starkey at the end, if he'd had his school desk there he'd have probably knocked one out.

It is. It’s also one of humanities greatest inventions.

I have an overarching theory which is that we have a limited number of people we are built to be in contact with (around 150) and after that we have to create generalisations to interact with people.

Genie is out the bottle now. All we can do is learn how to live with it and IMO part of that is not blowing small percentages out of proportion.
