I’d imagine most of these arguments have been made but may be lost in the bickering 😊

Morrison’s won’t be the first or the last. Shmmeee mentioned I think Delta Airlines have bumped up PMI costs for unvaccinated staff which is far worse.

Whilst I don’t like backdoor mandating people to take vaccines (I’ve always felt it should be individuals choice). You can understand Morrison’s position. Currently if youre double jabbed and pinged you don’t have to quarantine. If you’re not you should. Also we don’t know how many people might’ve taken the piss with being pinged and staying off work for a couple of weeks ?! It would be relatively easy to do if you know someone who’s got covid.

They are still paying sick pay if you get covid (vaccinated or unvaccinated) or have symptoms. In addition the more people vaccinated the less likely internal spread at the company and/or to customers

Id they were cutting sick pay for unvaccinated who actually caught covid, I’d 100% be against it. Also theyve potentially caused a new issue of people without symptoms ignoring the ping and still going in and spreading ! Not good.

Good post. My thoughts exactly.

But be prepared to be called a thick twat, incredibly right wing, and that you've just written your forum suicide note for holding such views.

Could be a number of things though.

The lifting of restrictions, The seasonal change affecting the country earlier because of being further North etc.

Yes, schools though have gone back earlier than in England by a few weeks. Maybe there's a correlation.

Defo a correlation with schools returning but didnt Sturgeon also kept things closed/restrictions in place longer ? I’m hoping we’ve had a more gradual spread over summer south of the border..…ever there optimist ! There will undoubtedly be an increase though

I think this is where the Governments idea of Covid passports starts coming into play, to start to stem the tide of this thing.

Expecting measures over the next few days for anyone who has not been vaccinated not being allowed into places etc.

Yeah, heard the government ‘winter plan’ (we got one this year !!!) will be announced next week/soon with measures they will take to prevent a big wave, hopefully without need for lockdowns….we’ll see !

I wish they'd just announce things without all this leaking / testing the water however.

What's appropriate (whatever it may or may not be!) is not necessarily what's populist!

Come on Nick not this again. The app is advisory, test and trace is not
If people who don't get sick pay don't want to isolate, they won't bother with the app and test and trace.

I've never had the app installed.

Therefore it encourages people to go to work if they have knowingly been around people with covid.

Test and trace phone you and it’s illegal to ignore

Like I said, they can't phone you if they don't have your details.

How do you think people who are self employed or don't get sick pay have done it since the start?
Picked and chose the laws they follow most likely and probably increased infections and caused deaths by transmitting the virus. But hey it’s ok like speeding and jumping a red light

starting to feel a bit better , the wife’s had 3 lateral flow and 3 pcr tests which have all come back negative

But she’s wiped out with a cold , more importantly our daughter is getting better too although her sense of smell and taste haven’t come back yet

Not everybody gets full pay to isolate so they won't. Same with places like Morrisons.

It's as simple as that, let's make out they are all murderers though.

The law is only if you have a positive test or are pinged, isn't it?

Lol not individual murders no of course but individual decisions have individual consequences it’s not rocket science

And no if you are contacted by test and trace and are not double vaccinated then It’s a legal requirement (though completely unenforceable) to isolate

I completely understand no pay people having to make the decision they have been

it’s not without consequence though

If the choice was not get paid or keep going in when infected then it’s not really a choice is it? The problem is SSP while better than nothing still incentivises people to do the wrong thing and come in if they’re ill.

So yeah... The more people who get no pay to isolate, the less people who will.

That majority of companies are only paying SSP.

Of course Morrisons are far right Nazis though for paying most of their employees more, with a small minority getting SSP.

What are Morrisons actually doing? Are they removing the temporary changes they made to their sick pay so that it covered those who were having to self isolate or are they saying those who aren't vaccinated won't get sick pay in any circumstances?

The actual details haven't been released.

But it appears to be a case of simply only paying SSP to non vaccinated people when they have to self isolate (no mention about what happens if they actually get Covid).

Which is totally fair enough considering vaccinated people don't have to isolate if pinged.

It's crime of the century though according to some on here. Or maybe they've calmed down and realised they might have over reacted a bit.

Think it’s just pinged. I read somewhere that if they have symptoms or Covid unvaccinated will still get full sick pay.
