You're very naive, the Tories are already showing that they're ready to dispose of Johnson. This by election won't influence the decision just provide a reason for the idiot media

Of course they are ready to dispose of him. Losing this by election would probably tip him over the edge. It wouldn't be the main reason, far from it, but it absolutely would influence the decision.

The other thing I would point out is the absurd impotence of the opposition

It’s funny and tragic in equal measure how things work - the last couple of days on here people have frothed about a silly party - we should get police in - and we should blame this party and link to COVID deaths

Oddly the likes of PVA - who bless him is having a jolly time - does not mention the biggest crime in the last month when the government passed a bill which in effect can remove someone’s citizenship at a stroke if they are “not contactable” - strangely also Mr Starmer seems more interested in such parties and also that Peppa Pig land is not a very nice place

I just knew you'd have no problem with the parties.

You're very much in the minority.

Keep licking those boots.

Your silence over the last few days says it all 😅

Why have you edited the post?

Are you happy with the bill passed - I believe - on November 16

I have zero interest in parties and you it seems have zero interest in preserving citizenship

Then again you are very stupid

Am I not allowed to edit posts? Strange riposte.

So because I didn't mention a bill means I'm happy with it?

You're absolutely windmilling all over the place here.

Maybe stick to staying away from the thread when your hero is getting a pasting.

No you are just unbelievably stupid and far more of an ally to Mr Johnson than me and again so stupid you don’t understand why

What is the bill I’m referring to and why haven’t you mentioned it?

Hahah absolutely windmilling

You are the only person on this forum, and in the small minority nationwide, who are happy with the government breaking their own rules.

Pull your head out of 'Mr Johnson's' arse and give it a wobble.

To be fair to PVA you’d find it hard to get any information about said bill because there had literally been no mention in the press about it.
There’s a reason that things like this as well as the protest and NHS bills have been suppressed.

The bill is appalling, and typical of this government.

Presumably Grendel is a big fan of it as it criminalises asylum seekers and foreigners.

Pfft as much as you want but Labour are not really campaigning in seats teh Lib Dems have more chance of winning and vice versa

Not saying it is the end of the toriees but it's what people have been asking for, for years now
That could just as easily be down to having virtually zero campaigning arm these days to be fair.
I do think there needs to be some kind of informal agreement but will they get ditched come a full GE?

I think there will be a greater commitment to it than in recent years. As you say there's a chance they may back out come a GE, but I think it'll be more prominent than last time out for sure.

Ive just let you and the 6th form debaters have their fun

I hate to break this to you but Johnson’s current popularity ratings are massively above thatcher in mid term I’m sure she once plummeted to (80%) or so - and she won a thumping majority at the next election

Thatcher wasn't totally inept though. Her ideology was completely wrong but at least she had an air of having control and what she was doing. Also are you talking about the 1983 election where she got a massive boost because of the Falklands?

All Johnson has is the charm and being a cartoonish buffoon but people are getting increasingly tired of it as they realise the joke's actually not funny.

Still not sure Johnson will be in charge by the next election anyway so probably a futile argument.

Johnson only made it to PM because of Brexit. If the EU referendum never happened he wouldn’t have won that leadership contest in the first place, Cameron would have probably done a Blair and handed over to Osborne at some point.

Fact is you know that if they filled their press about that govt bill (which you're right about) most people wouldn't give a fuck and just say "who cares".

Tell them that the Tories were having parties while they followed restrictions is going to make a much bigger hit with the average Joe.

Well he would as you can’t just “hand over” the leadership and Johnson would have buried Osborne with the party membership

Of course that's what would have happened - it's why Johnson eventually chose Leave - to have a go at ousting Cameron and stop that succession. Then got stabbed in the back by Gove and had to wait for May to resign.

You always need a well researched left field counter argument to deflect 😉

The thing I do not really understand is Johnson is more liberal than Ed Davey - he’s very happy to bloat the welfare state and pump money anywhere and everywhere - he is even more non Conservative than the Blair clone Cameron.

Yet we get these extreme acts of citizenship restrictions which he certainly has zero appetite for.

It is an odd conundrum - he will step down before the next election - he naturally is a Blair style liberal - who replaces him will be interesting but they’re is zero desire for a starmer led government

The Tories picked Johnson because the general public liked him, fuck all to do with brexit.

of course - he has a personality in an ocean of banality

In truth the British public should just spoil ballot papers and no one votes for any party - this of course will never happen so we end up with this same tired theatre

If he really is happy to bloat the welfare state he has an odd way of showing it. He is simply governed in the same way Trump was, whoever is the last person in the room to speak to him persuades him to go with their ideas.

His premiership is a good mirror to the general state that the UK finds itself in-clinging on to past glories.

Most politics lessons in my experience are run as inductions to the Conservative Party. Johnson as leader really is an embarrassment to the UK on the international stage-I don’t think there is much doubt of that.

Curious to know how long you think the Union has left too.
