I am more concerned about the likes of what Chubby Brown is doing (even though he's not on Netflix) rather than a bad taste Jimmy Carr joke.

Is Chubby Brown really still doing jokes about n*ggers with big lips and Pakistanis smelling? 😳😱

Thats Really the extent of his act I guess he’s not really a sophisticated humour guy

Fortunately a pub I was going to use for a party has stopped publicising itself with the fact he likes it and visits it a lot, else I'd have to engage in my own cancel culture!

I'd be more concerned about CB's audience than him. At least he has an excuse of it paying his wages, they're choosing to pay to hear his bollocks.

I still maintain that ‘jokes’ about British people being blown up in terrorist attacks, soldiers being gunned down etc would be met with outrage on here.
Jimmy Carr did one and again polarised opinion but I seem to remember a good few squaddies coming out in support saying that, that was the dark humour they used.

Just googled the exact joke:

“Say what you like about those servicemen amputees from Iraq and Afghanistan, but we're going to have a fucking good Paralympic team in 2012."

I don't usually laugh at bad taste jokes, but I do find that funny.

It’s because it is funny though isn’t it. It’s funny because it’s ridiculous and pushing the boundary. Clearly we are not going to have a great Paralympic team because of the amputees.

Clearly the extermination of the gypsies was NOT a positive.

It’s a joke. If would be different if he was coming out genuinely saying it was a positive if the nazi regime. But he’s clearly not, he’s joking.

I am not trying to convince you specifically btw I’m just saying

I don't think people can tell the difference, it's very w eird.

It was a comedy show, not a Tommy Robinson rally. It was explained beforehand and after and was one of hundreds of jokes.

People still just want to be seen as "good people". Shouting for him to be investigated by Police. 😂 😂

Or alternatively maybe some genuinely just have a problem with it?

Yeah maybe some romany gypsys actually do.

However, the majority of people piling on are on it for the bandwagon and don't seem to realise it was a comedy show and just want to be more offended than everybody else.

"I feel sick to my stomach and close to tears" is one example. Course you are. It will be something else next week that sickens and upsets people.

Where have you taken that quote from?

For tax evasion!
Maybe he’s put himself in a position where his brand of comedy - generally being mean/nasty about people - doesn’t really wash anymore? Or maybe the joke just wasn’t funny? I don’t know.

Frankie Boyle talked about his routine, and how people get really angry/offended with him. He wondered if he has to wear a hat on stage to show people he’s in character.

The idea that you can only be offended by something if you are *that* person is absolutely nonsense by the way. If my wife/daughter were to suffer racial abuse, can I not be offended by it because I am white?

Personally, I am of the mindset that comedy should be left to comedy. It becomes a dangerous game if we start drawing lines. I didn't find his quip remotely funny, and I think he's a twat. People can judge him, and those that find it funny, as they see fit.

People will be 'fake outraged' as you have put it. But you are also outraged at their outrage like it somehow is about you. There's plenty of that to go about.

I'm hardly outraged just by pointing out how fucking silly a lot of it is and how people just want to pile on a bandwagon to show how much of a good human they are.

Somebody racially abusing your family (or anybody) is completely different to the joke that Jimmy Carr told though isn't it? There's a massive difference.

The woman in question claims to be of Roma origin though, so I'm not sure what Nick's point is. Did you tell her you think she's overdoing it, Nick?

What a surprise the kimono fox killer joins in the outrage

The bizarre thing is, most people offended will only be offended because it was reported in media/social media after offending someone…rather than after watching it themselves

Strange times

Ps I read Whoopi Goldberg’s serious comment about the holocaust over the weekend which might be far more offensive to most than a joke made from a usually offensive comedian rated 18 on Netflix. Again, her freedom of speech, I just hope the internet warriors calling for Carr to be banned and unsubscribing from Netflix, call for her to be sacked…or alternatively just pipe down about both
