I’m not I am merely pointing out the EU block has a massively varied opinion on Russia purely down to economic self interest. Italy and Germany as well as France to a lesser extent are reliant on Russia to function due its total need for its energy reserves. It totally destroys the myth that a United eu is a strong one as in the end the big countries in it will talk big and still take the Russian gift of energy

I think they might have a role to play. If they decided to reduce trade/implement sanctions I’d imagine Russia will be well and truly fucked so they could certainly apply pressure. I said yesterday China doesn’t want this escalating to a nuclear war any more than us so it’s in their interests for Russia to de-escalate to reduce that risk

it’s never happening and this will solidly an alliance between the countries

Russian officials say they expect Ukrainian negotiators to arrive on the Polish-Belarusian border for the next round of peace talks on Thursday morning, where a ceasefire is set to be discussed.

Moscow's chief negotiator, Vladimir Medinsky, told Russian media the Ukrainian delegation has left the capital city of Kyiv and that Russian troops are providing a security corridor for the delegates.

But he said that Vladimir Putin's regime recognised the Ukrainian people's right to chose their own leader and that Russia accepts Volodymyr Zelensky as the legitimate president.

Meaningless. Its just a show to try and make it look like they are trying being reasonable and Ukraine are the ones being unreasonable. This is all part of the propaganda war. If Russia had any intentions of agreeing a ceasefire they would scale down their invasion whilst talks are ongoing not escalate as they are doing.

The Russian Red lines will be completely unacceptable to Ukraine, and Putin knows it.

He will want
- demilitarisation of Ukraine
- agreement to never join Nato
- agreement to never join the EU
- regime change with a puppet government
- for the Dombas region/East Ukraine to be under Russian control


He doesn't even believe his own country has a right to chose its own leader, hence him jailing and clamping down on opposition parties.

There might be something in there about treatment if they surrender.

There would be more political capital in capturing and looking after them as well as possible to relay the message back in Russia about the reality. It's time consuming and expensive, but ultimately the right thing to do.

If you've been shelled and bombed I can imagine you wouldn't be in a particularly forgiving mood and it would be difficult to say people under extreme stress and fearing for their lives would shoot first. It's an ambiguous statement and I would hope, where possible, they will capture.
