they seem to restock at 8pm every night but they're generally gone in a couple of hours. they do randomly become available during the day but 8pm every night so far since I started following that account.
, double vaxed and 4 + test, over 2 years.

My local comprehensive has gone back to "hybrid part-time learning" sending every year group to "work from home" 1 day per week.......fucking joke.

That’s good most aren’t. So it was fine for you to say that and would have been out of order for the barber to go on about it.
Do take into account though Pete that covids obviously really prevalent at the moment, so more people dying with other ailments will obviously have Covid. Covid might have had nothing to do with many of the reported deaths, it’s just noted that they have tested positive in the last 30 days.
I’m sure I heard a figure recently that 50% of those deaths had nothing to do with Covid whatsoever but can’t recall for certain.
That’s not to say we should ignore it but the figures are badly skewed at the moment due to the prevalence. Most people who have been fully jabbed are at negligible risk from Covid
ps another crazy rule/guidance is that operations are delayed until 30 days post positive test…this is crazy, especially with such a backlog. You can imagine the costs involved in the number of cancelled ops. Let’s just shovel more cash into the money pit

It won’t kill you but it floored me for 3-4 days and 2 and a half weeks later I’m still coughing and tired. It’s daft to pretend there’s nothing to it when that’s not true. It’s also daft to have 30 days limit when it’s so prevalent if it doesn’t affect recovery from any medical treatment. If it does affect recovery it sounds very sensible
As I say I’m a fit 50 year old with no other conditions, fully vaxed and it floored me
Fair point about impact on post op recovery. I think it’s general guidance from BMI about 30 day delay but agree

Friend has just come back from lanzarote and all inside activity requires a mask. Removing all restrictions and mitigations seems so foolhardy especially given my experience of it

It’s the same in here. A lot of the British people on my flight instantly removed their masks once off the plane and inside the airport though.

Has anyone seen any good data on the impact of remote learning? My eldest absolutely loved it and learned far more in a quiet environment than a classroom she says, my youngest really missed the socialisation as she doesn’t have a mobile and WhatsApp to stay in touch and is far less capable of self guided learning.
Would be really interested to see some data split by age group as to the actual impact, seems to be a lot of gnashing of teeth about kids being fucked up but not a lot of light on the subject short of questionable self reported mental health surveys.

My youngest has it for the second time in the last few months and he probably had it at the very beginning but they didn’t test as they said it wasn’t worth it. He has no symptoms again but my wife who is a nurse has to stop off for ten days now and they if any more get it in the house the ten days starts again unless she gets it and then it’s only five days, she is testing negative but she doesn’t get good results from the lft or the pcr which always comes back inconclusive.

Yeah as I say I expect the impact on younger kids was quite severe, curious how older kids managed though. Like most extra curricular stuff I expect a split based on class/background. Same as you see during holidays.

I have thought it'd be different for every individual.
In terms of actual learning probably the quieter, more studious kids have flourished having the opportunity to spend time doing it without all the nonsense of playground politics and peer pressure. Others will just get distracted and without someone to try and focus them will fall back.
In a way it would be interesting to see what each kid had done during that time to give an idea of how to motivate and get the best from them.
One thing for certain is that all of the kids will have suffered in terms of personal development without the socialisation.

Yes we should isolate as we do when we have both of those, the advantage with covid is we have a simple test if we have symptoms. What’s the problem with that?

That’s a fair opinion. But why not test when you have symptoms and isolate while you are expelling a viral load? No one is isolating without symptoms unless they are taking regular tests which is why 1 in 15 people in England currently have the virus
And there’s 17000 in hospital , granted half of them in hospital for other reasons other than for Covid with a few hundred in icu. We are managing it well but have removed all mitigations. Which is where this started as someone was saying a school was wrong to deliver virtual learning one day a week for certain pupils.
