Would it surprise anyone one if it turned out he has a consultancy job lined up with Russel Hobbs.
Anyway. I checked it out after seeing this and apparently the most cost effective way to boil a litre of water is on a hob with a hob kettle so long as it isn’t an induction hob, if it’s an induction hob it’s the most expensive which surprised me as I thought induction hobs were more energy efficient. Either way you’re talking about percentages of a penny to boil a litre of water. So in the big scheme of things the advice isn’t worth a wank.

Exactly this. Looks like I’m giving a large proportion of my savings to energy companies this winter so they can keep posting record profits while paying out huge bonuses to CEO’s and dividends to shareholders. #levellingup

The problem is that even if they bin her off in a few months there's nobody waiting in the wings. Sunaks campaign has really exposed him and might play well to some of the party faithful, but obv not enough for him to win, but some of the things he's been coming out with surely would give him not chance of winning a general election.

We can only hope for two things. Firstly, she’s been bullshitting the members and when reality bites, will follow more sensible policy. Secondly, she builds a cabinet/team of competent people around herself and not just the crazies

James O’Brien did a segment saying we are close to being a failed state. I think that’s a bit extreme but he isn’t far away with how things could get if competent leadership isn’t installed urgently.

How far off are we really?
We don't have a working healthcare system, the police are so understaffed they can't respond to anything. Who is going to be paying the massive heating bills in the care system which is now all privately run? Anyone relying on their state pension or benefits is going to really struggle this winter. Inflation is out of control and they seem to have no answer past telling people not to get pay rises and putting interest rates up to make things even worse for people.
We can't get enough staff for various industries, we're struggling with imports and exports due to paperwork and logistical issues.
No idea about education but I can't imagine that's great given the state of everything else.
We seem to constantly lurch from one 'once in a generation' crisis to the next.

In education you have recruitment targets for new teachers being missed by a frightening amount, and retention remains so poor that 40% leave within 5 years. Which means that at a time when really you need more staff than ever before, you’re actually losing them at if anything a greater rate.

I’ve seen half hearted efforts to get retired teachers back in, not much else. And to be honest as I’ve written elsewhere I’m actively looking for a route out of the profession even if it means less job security. Just want more of my life back.

We've spent over a generation telling people the metric of success is how much money and stuff you've got. Now we can't find people who want to do jobs which aren't particularly highly paid and much of the rewards are intangible as it's based on providing a service and helping people rather than enriching yourself. Who'da thunk it?

It relies on a lot of goodwill, but when that translates to a 60 hour working week for both of us to manage the workload, if somebody offers you far better work life balance in exchange for a bit less money, yeah I’ll take it.
