I could be wrong but I think a lot of locals and ‘neutrals’ are decked out in Argentina gear to bum Messi.

The commentators mentioned when the Dutch had a lot of the ball yesterday that the whistling was mainly coming from locals who wanted to watch Messi.
Yes I saw something from someone who was at an Argentina match and he estimated only about a third of the people in Argentina shirts were speaking Spanish.

Controversial view here but if that was Cov there are people on here who would be loving it. It would be the type of top shithousery, which people used to love Shipley for.

There was obviously a lot of bad feeling between the sides and the Dutch were hardly innocent.
Shipley used to shithouse the crowds rather than the players didn't he?

I am curious @CJ_covblaze Can you enlighten us? How do the Argentina fans get hold of so many tickets for the games? Have they mostly been there for the whole tournament, and you just know, whoever they play in the final (should they beat Croatia), it will be about 80% Argentina, 10% the opposition (if that) plus the select few snaffling the rest. How are they getting all those tickets? I'm baffled (fantastic support, even if their footballers have 'attitude'.
Didn’t their Government pay for loads of their ultras to travel over in numbers in order to create an atmosphere? Sure I read that somewhere.

Think people are trying everything possible to try and see Messi win it.

Are you sure this is aimed at Van Gaal though? Sometimes the angle that these pictures are taken are deceptive. It could well be that he was though.
There's a video too on twitter , I personally don't give a shit about this sort of stuff , just pointed out that he does infact also act like it

Looks a coincidence

Yeah I think it’s almost certainly not foul play (although his brother is claiming otherwise, poor bloke). But I just think it’s horrendous to die at such a young age while you’re out getting more mainstream attention than ever on the biggest professional assignment you’ve ever had.

Your original post suggests you think it was foul play too.

Sorry you can’t both sides this is you watched the game. And yes I am biased but still. The Dutch weren’t pulling out the dark arts and didn’t have a player the red wouldn’t allow to be tackled or booked. They also didn’t hammer a ball into the opposition bench.
Dumfries committed 6 fouls, some proper cynical ones too without getting a yellow card tbf.
Ironically he ended up getting sent off for 2 yellows but both after the final whistle 🤣

The Messi ones were jokes though. One where he just ran into a player and rolled about twenty yard holding his face, the blatant handball which another player got a yellow for, dissent galore. There were points where any time he lost the ball the ref blew for a foul.

And yeah, the ref lost control and the Dutch got frustrated, but it was because the game wasn’t under control at all and the Argentinians were repeatedly getting away with murder.

Didn’t know about the sending off after the final whistle 😂 I thought getting a yellow in a shootout was bad enough 😂

I know we went out in the semis last time but this feels like a much bigger game. Semis last time was “only” Croatia. This is England France and they are world champions while we have a great young squad.

Feels like the biggest World Cup game since Portugal 06 to me.

I thought the Dutch were shocking really - Van Gaal seemed to turn himself into Joe Kinnear and employed the Crazy Gang to take us back to the 80’s

I’m glad they lost. Messi is one of the greats of the world stage in football so of course he’s going to get plaudits. His sublime pass for the first goal was more quality than the Dutch managed in the whole game.

The Dutch were bad, but that free kick routine was nice.

Van Gaal has come in for massive criticism back home throughout. The Dutch have a firm belief in the way the game should be played & many ex players, pundits etc. said they'd rather not win the World Cup than do it playing the Van Gaal way... Seems mad but just the way they are.

They wouldn’t have qualified playing their traditional way. Just don’t have the players for it.

Had the most touches in an opponents box of all European nations in qualifying I believe. van Gaal has come in for a lot of stick, but a bit like Southgate results spoke for themselves. Didn’t lose a game in normal time the whole time he was manager.

Most frustrating thing about the Dutch is the way they abandoned a tactic which got them back into the game once level ..

Mental mindset which cost them as they'd have probably won
