No idea. But I'm convinced the reason Robins was so adamant he wouldn't be gone in January is because he's got something sorted for the summer.
Also got told yesterday that the Sweden manager has told him he needs to be playing in the top flight, I've no idea if that's correct.

When Regis asked what turned around his career at Coventry he said Sillett changed the style to suit him.

For whatever reason - which he admitted - his ability to run distances was beyond him and he didn’t have the stamina.

Gould played long balls over his head and asked him to run and chase. It was a disaster - i think he went at one stage 34 games without a goal and thought about quitting the game.

Sillett got everyone to play the ball to his feet so he could turn and move with short bursts of energy

Gyokeres has far more stamina and pace over longer yardage. He creates far more chances for himself - Regis just couldn’t do that he was better at ball to feet and playing within a shorter area of the pitch

Something like that, I’m sure I heard Bennett say he and Regis suggested playing to feet suited the players we had at the time.

I can see the Regis comparisons (and it's as much who else that we've had could you compare him to really?), ironically with the strength, but not actually that great in the air outside the penalty area at least! Regis was a decent header when running into the box, but the mistake was always that he was suited to a long ball when it just wasn't his game.

It's the power to drive at defenders, and receive the ball with his back to goal, on his chest, and protect it.

And the fact long ball is stupid for both of them, although playing one into the channels for Gyokeres to harry and hassle seems to have become a go-to tactic.

Oh and as an aside, Regis was a pretty good goalscorer with West Brom, and a pretty terrible one with us, even when on form! Gyokeres's game isn't all about goals either so arguably, the time to sell him is when his profile's highest because he's scoring them. Strangely, I'd say Regis was the better finisher of the two(!)

This is no surprise surely? We’ll know by the end of the season whether he’s going. I’m sure the club are already having conversations with his, O’Hare’s, Hamer and Sheaf’s agents

There were plenty of examples of Regis going on long runs. The goal in the FA Cup Quarter Final springs to mind. I also remember a couple of long runs with the ball in the Semi Final and a goal at home to Charlton after he beat a number of players with the ball.

Neither want or wanted the ball played to their head although Regis was good in the air in front of goal. Regis was more explosive over a short distance and Gyokeres has more stamina.

I can't think of any striker from our past more like Gyokeres in style than Regis.

Regis himself said he couldn’t make long runs by the time he joined us. He never ran channels like Gyokeres and had the ball to feet

When I think about Regis, I see a magnificent physique, I see intelligence, selflessness and the skills and control to bring others into play (be it with feet, head or chest). I see sudden explosive power and spectacular finishing. OK it's partly rose-tinted nostalgia, and his most awesome performances were with West Brom, but he was poetry in motion!
With Vik you get boundless energy, single-minded determination, a fair bit of skill with shed loads of strength and persistence. He'll always score goals, I've loved the guy right from when he was on loan, he's our best striker in many years, and I hope he stays with CCFC. But there's no way he reminds me of Cyrille.

When you look at it Gibsons scoring record was incredible. He played with some dreadful strike partners in a rubbish team but managed one in 2 nearly in the top flight for us

Incidentally, I wouldn’t pay much heed to what Sky Sports are saying, it’s just guesswork. He’s worth more than that, and we should get more than £15 million if there’s a serious offer in the Summer.

No way are the club that daft not to be offering a extended deal. Put an a clause it that he can talk to clubs if the amount is reached and im sure a deal can be done.

If he says no then, 12mill seems light but will beva starting point that will attract a few. The more interested the more the price goes up. I would enjoy him while u can as this could be the the last few games we see of him. Its been a brilliant signing and could be used as a foundation to really push on by adding 3 or 4 quality players when sold.

In an ideal world, we’d keep Gyo and get promoted with him as our talisman. To be candid, our squad is so far off the standard required to make a real go at promotion, we need to sell him and get 3-5 better quality players.
