The key for Godden as it always has been will be to stay fit. He can't be the talisman striker on the treatment table. I really hope he has an injury free year as he probably will bag loads.Honestly fuck the lot of you who questioned him. His stats don’t lie. He sacrificed his own game last year for the good of the team and if you can’t see that then you’re clueless.
Super Matt, great hair and absolute bagsman

Well he had his best all round game in the championship today - outstanding performance
Fadz just defies all the odds reallyI'm delighted he is playing well, I think the continuity in the side from a backbone of Fadz, Sheaf and Godden is important and no surprise those 3 were all good today.

Will take some of the presure off Simms as well. I think the expectation as Vik's replacement has got to Simms.Trust the manager , who continues to put his faith in godden despite signing over 10 million pounds worth of forwards
If he stays fit then simms will need to start performing which is what the team needs , healthy competition
He wasn'tGodden was superb today, though not sure he should have been giventhat 2nd goal!
He wasn't
Great to bring such quality off the benchOn current form it’s Godden and Wright as the front two. Might be what Simms needs anyway to give him time to get right.
Also don't think people realise the importance of having 3 or 4 decent strikers at the club , sunderland fans are crying out for a striker and we're sat on about 15 millions worth
I don't think Wright would make it much past 45 mins at the moment looked a little leggy after some of his pacey runs.On current form it’s Godden and Wright as the front two. Might be what Simms needs anyway to give him time to get right.
The bonus of selling someone for good money early in the window. We played a team today who were absolutely crying our for a striker.
We seemed to have coped better with losing key players than they did.
Saying that, what’s with the fingers in the ears celebration? If it’s because a couple of bad eggs on twitter (sorry…X) were giving him a bit of abuse for not scoring against Leicester then it’s a shitty way to celebrate in front of 24k fans, the majority of which love him.
I agree with the last line , he'd probably not be here thenMust admit with Godden playing so well today I thought Evo would be coming out swinging tonight (guess there’s still time). I’m fairly happy with our striker options now - thought Godden would be earmarked as 4th choice which would see him leave and replaced, but if we have 3 all competing strongly and the option to flex to 1 up top if required then I’d be tempted to leave it at 3.
Always a “what if” but just imagine if he was that bit quicker. Be absolutely lethal.
Yea haji would have scored if the defender never got onto itThe third goal was very very similar to the Godden cross for Vik v Sunderland only this time a defender put it in.

Is that what the fingers in ears is all about? What's the story behind that? They edited out the final line...
"Well, except for that one twat who tagged him in abuse"
He was targeted on twitter after Sunday's game by one of the faceless trolls who make it such a sewer of social mediaIs that what the fingers in ears is all about? What's the story behind that?
