Honestly fuck the lot of you who questioned him. His stats don’t lie. He sacrificed his own game last year for the good of the team and if you can’t see that then you’re clueless.

Super Matt, great hair and absolute bagsman

The key for Godden as it always has been will be to stay fit. He can't be the talisman striker on the treatment table. I really hope he has an injury free year as he probably will bag loads.

The only thing I'd question with Godden and I'm not sure if this is me missing something but he often looks to drift to the back post if a player has the ball wide. If he arrived in the box a bit later he'd often be easier to find and have a simpler shot.

Trust the manager , who continues to put his faith in godden despite signing over 10 million pounds worth of forwards

If he stays fit then simms will need to start performing which is what the team needs , healthy competition

Also don't think people realise the importance of having 3 or 4 decent strikers at the club , sunderland fans are crying out for a striker and we're sat on about 15 millions worth 😉

We played a team today who were absolutely crying our for a striker.
We seemed to have coped better with losing key players than they did.

Saying that, what’s with the fingers in the ears celebration? If it’s because a couple of bad eggs on twitter (sorry…X) were giving him a bit of abuse for not scoring against Leicester then it’s a shitty way to celebrate in front of 24k fans, the majority of which love him.

Agree, he should stop that now, he was having his Super Matt song sung loudly throughout the game.

Must admit with Godden playing so well today I thought Evo would be coming out swinging tonight (guess there’s still time). I’m fairly happy with our striker options now - thought Godden would be earmarked as 4th choice which would see him leave and replaced, but if we have 3 all competing strongly and the option to flex to 1 up top if required then I’d be tempted to leave it at 3.

Always a “what if” but just imagine if he was that bit quicker. Be absolutely lethal.

I agree with the last line , he'd probably not be here then

Another thing, Godden is ultra confident. Hes never once not backed himself, you see other players moping around when they are not scoring ive never seen him moody. His was our top striker, vic arrived he had to settle for second fiddle but hes come back stronger than ever. So happy for him.
