His goal wasn't even that good today , but as the game went on you could see the confidence to link with palmer and haji / simms was there .. he enjoyed today.. was involved in all 3 goals

We've been spoiled by vik , and this season will see godden ( if he remains fit ) re emerge as the forward we all know he is

Honestly fuck the lot of you who questioned him. His stats don’t lie. He sacrificed his own game last year for the good of the team and if you can’t see that then you’re clueless.

Super Matt, great hair and absolute bagsman

Agreed. Think people have to remember he was coming back from injury last season-he looks properly sharp now. I think he needs to rise above 1 idiot giving him shite on "X", though. If it's motivating him though fair enough I suppose.

What's an "absolute bagsman"? Is it "a mate whose hair is so good that when you go out with him you pull too just from gravity"? Or is it blogger for "goal scorer"? If it's the former, that's OK!

That's 41 goals in 81 league starts , or 41 in 105 league appearances at city .

I can see him hitting 15 this term
I'm not a fan of all that stats fixated media bollocks (xG, heat maps, KMs covered, number of Taylor Swift streams etc,) developed by techy nerds.

However...

#For class in EFL
If "Goals scored" / "games played"
= >.39
Print ("Success")

That is a great stat for a professional footballer.

If I was a manager I'd probably get my players off Twitter tbh. It's pretty much inevitable what happened to Godden is going to happen to every player at some point, unfortunately arseholes are unavoidable. In fact if he's avoided it up until now then he's done well.

Edit. This was supposed to be a response to your post on Twitter.

Yeah if you're at all sensitive, social media (including this place) ain't for you!

Despite us having spent heavily on Wright and Simms, Godden looks worth his place at the moment. Good on him.

To me, Simms looks like a decent player - he had a few nice touches yesterday - who is lacking in confidence. It will help him greatly if he can get a goal sooner or later and if the fans stay on his side and don't turn against him.

Wright shows great promise both as an entertainer and as a goalscorer.

Exactly. It just seems a little thin skinned to even acknowledge it really.

Fair play to him I reckon. I’d print out an oversize Twitter post, like a one of those giant cheques saying “Suck on that you cunts” every time I scored. For the craic of course.

Might steal that idea for when someone on here tells me I'm talking shit but my post has more likes than the one telling me I'm talking shit.

I guarantee there’s not 1 person in this country who’s played football in any iteration that’s not been called shit at any point, you get called worse playing 5 - side at the AT7 centre
Yeah, had people calling me that all the time.

Though it was a pretty accurate assessment to be fair to them.

I’m really glad he’s staying - in terms of being in the right place at the right time he’s the most natural poacher we’ve got. He’s almost guaranteed 10 goals a season at full fitness even if he ends up dropping off the bench a lot this season.

And (oh and I’m sure it’s going to evoke a response from the usual fan club) it’s why you sometimes look at other far more gifted naturally talented individuals with negativity when they struggle to see oit games

Godden can’t just score goals. The days of Mick Quinn are long gone. He looked spent for pace last season and struggling. He’s addressed it and his sharpened up his movement and overall game

I reckon his current all-round performances are as good as I've seen from him. If only he'd buried one of those shots at Leicester.
Sluggish for a lot of last season, but clearly motoring now.
