Absolutely and MHancock was shown up today also for being as thick as pig shit. The only difference between the two is there’s never been people queuing up to tell you how intelligent MHancock is and its all an act.It was the time when we also desperately needed an intelligent and focussed health secretary to absorb the science and be able to communicate it clearly and concisely to a PM with a minute attention span
The Johnson/Hancock double act really was as bad as it could get in a health emergency
Having listened to a fair bit of it plus a lengthy analysis I'm not sure it's as damning of Johnson as some are making out.
Oh I don't know. Some of it is surprisingly not too bad as you say, but the bad stuff is really bad.
He seemed quite keen for the entire elderly population to die off from the bits I read.
Vallance was saying that Boris would demand to “let it rip” one day, and then demand zero deaths the next. He sounds like a totally bizarre person with no interest in actually making a decision.Having listened to a fair bit of it plus a lengthy analysis I'm not sure it's as damning of Johnson as some are making out.
I think Hancock and Sunak come out far worse.
None of this alters the fact that Johnson is a useless, lazy twat.
Well you'd think so but then you remember some of the proper right wing nutters in that party who have made it a lot worse. Some would have actively tried to break the NHS so they could demolish it and sell it to private enterprise, and would have kept everything open longer because money is all that matters. Others who'd have said everyone not going to work was just lazy and workshy so why should the govt provide things like furlough. Braverman would probably have described having covid as a 'lifestyle choice'.It was the time when we also desperately needed an intelligent and focussed health secretary to absorb the science and be able to communicate it clearly and concisely to a PM with a minute attention span

The main criteria for getting some civil service jobs seems to be understanding all the governance / machinery rather than content knowledge.I see Vallance was unhappy at how few scientific civil servants there were. Worth noting I was declined for roles in scientific policy but people with no scientific background were hired for them.
There are always natural resourcesThere ain’t no wealth. The country’s economy has been a shitshow for decades by all accounts. Running massive deficits, printing more money to cover deficits and therefore causing runaway inflation/ debasement of currency…and in turn raising interest rates to crazy levels to try to suppress inflation. All this leading to poverty levels of 40%.
I’d imagine the population is desperate and they need massive structural change to sort the mess out by the sounds of it….not sure whether this nutter will deliver it though (not sure he can do much worse by looks of it)
Edit - and people wonder why increasing numbers of people, especially in countries with ridiculous inflation, look at options like bitcoin
I see CvD's point that that's hardly news, though! He sounds like a totally bizarre person with no interest in actually making a decision.

Reasonable for protesters to call Iain Duncan Smith ‘Tory scum’, court rules
So the Autumn statement was a big meh for everyone really, anything positive eaten up by the refusal to increase thresholds.
what point is "decent stuff" if it doesn't make a difference to people? There was some decent stuff in there but as you say they should’ve just increased thresholds. Increasing initial personal allowance to £15k would’ve been a headline grabber for starters. Not sure why they did the NI change instead and not heard any commentary on the reasons either ?
Dont think it will shift the dial much, if at all, in the polls. The Tories are done even if Sunak and Hunt have taken a pretty sensible approach to a majority of economic matters in past 12 months
How is it possible for us to end up with a ‘left’ wing tax policy but right wing spending?what point is "decent stuff" if it doesn't make a difference to people?
the ni change is both for employee and employer contribution so a nice way of giving their business mates a tax cut while lawing the savings the employees make else where
when the news is run on the bbc like this it isn't good news for the tories

Price rise just ahead of the demand peakIt was a bit of a pointless budget past the headlines. People’s expendable incomes are going to continue to be squeezed and that’s what really matters to people. It will be forgotten about tomorrow when the rise of the energy price cap is announced. Circa 5% rise for the next quarter is what the smart money is on, apparently.
He's a wanker same as Rory StewartSometimes I quite like Ken Clarke, then I listen to interviews like the one on R4 this evening and remember why he’s a Tory. Just completely switching and waffling utter nonsense that wasn’t even consistent with itself to try and prove Sunak and Hunt are Very Serious Politicians who would never play games with the countries finances, before basically being forced to admit that’s exactly what they’re doing but this is different cos reasons and anyway who remembers Thatcher??

Why is Rory Stewart a wanker
This government is the equivalent of a cat that’s started pissing on the floorI'd love to have the confidence to stand up and spout absolute bollocks to the whole nation with not one fuck given like Hunt did today.
