Is it official that ACL offered 50% reduction or is it just 'a reported' figure?

Just asking cos I don't personally recall that being confirmed... Mind you, I do smoke a lot so memory is not what it was...

Don't worry sisu also smoke but also use mirrors

Then they should try talking but fisher comes up with a 150,000 offer sorry but a joke we have been through this on other threads ie

you don't pay woodend rent prices for a kenilworth road house
The problem I see with that though is it doesn't matter if the Ricoh is worth more than that in rent, you can only pay what the club can afford and sustain.

average crowd 10000 ? If you cleared £200k after costs for the season profits i would be surprised

SISU want the stadium and surrounding land, not the Butts Park arena. This is the last stand. Either they pay up and buy the stadium, or they don't, and they would have wasted millions upon millions over the last few years and cut their losses.

It's tense to say the least.

How exactly do we have time to rebuild BPA? We have 21 days! If ACL lock us out at that time we will be chucked out of the league!

The club could only move to a ground that could accomodate the 6k season ticket holders at least.

temp stands don't take that long to put up. FL would more than likely be as helpful as possible as the last thing they want is a team dropping out of the league mid season. Could rearrange fixtures so we have a few weeks with no home games, could play a couple elsewhere (Leicester for example). its not a great option but I don't think it can be ruled out, would at least be something for SISU to look into as a possibility.

but at the moment it isnt about what the club can afford it is about what it chooses to afford............. there are significant other costs that have either increased or been built in. My problem with it is if they are taking viability seriously then you tackle all costs and drive them all down that simply isnt happening

Cllr Foster on Ricoh Rentgate
Coventry Conservative Councillor Kevin Foster has tweeted that he feels that Coventry City's owners SISU should have paid what they thought was the right price.
SISU, according to the Coventry Telegraph tonight, have not paid their rent for the last ten months but rather than not paying, Cllr Foster feels that they should have paid what they thought was fair.
He tweeted: "If SISU think it is too high they should have paid the rent they think is right. Paying nothing reveals other motives."

How about this...

If sisu were to pay the rent for the remainder of the season and all is well on that point. What about moving to the BPA and building a few stands and have a ground we own.

I know people will moan, but there's plenty of teams that share with rugby teams.
Also the Rugby team may see benefits, increased attendances at their games.

An alternative ground?

I wonder if Sisu have read Football League regulations with regards to home grounds?

The FL website won't allow me to copy and paste the rules, but they can be found here:
http://www.football-league.co.uk/regulations/20120702/section-4-clubs_2293633_2125725

Some of the clauses make interesting reading:
Clause 13.4:
The Board will not generally approve any ground sharing arrangement where the Club plays its matches outside the conurbation, as defined by the Board, from which the Club takes its name or with which it is otherwise traditionally associated.

i.e. Good luck trying to get permission to play outside Coventry.

13.7.3 would not adversly affect... the supporters...

i.e. the fans get a say.

13.7.5 would not adversly affect other clubs in the vicinity of the proposed location

i.e. depending on the proposed location other (league?) clubs could have a say

and

13.9 ...a Club shall either own its own ground or have a legally enforceable agreement with its ground's owner for for its use by the Club, expiring not earlier than the end of the current season.

Does Coventry City Football Club have a legally enforceable agreement with ACL if the terms of the agreement are breached by non-payment of rent? Is the club already at odds with league regulations?

It's not a scapegoat. It's a fact. With the stadium and the catchment area we have we should be full every week.

If any owner wants to run the club like a normal business then I am all for that.

However, a normal business will lose customers when its product is not up to standard. It is upto the business to bring those customers back.

Was it the general public's fault that Rover went bust? Or was it the fault of the board who didnt run the company properly?

I think it is about what the club can afford, that's why they have withheld the rent, to try and force a way of getting the rent reduced to a level that the club can realistically operate at.
Sisu have done nothing but tackle all costs and drive them down, from what i'v seen.

We won't be leaving the Ricoh anyway. They will pay up on the 21st day, then sprout a load of crap about how it proves Sisu are still backing the club.

A few good points there,4 for a try and 3 for a convertion. I would like the Butts too. This has held some very historic sporting events in the past.10,000 watched Randolph Turpin from Leamington fight before he was world champion.1950's Dutch athlete Fanny Blankers Kouen raced there in world record time.

I'm wiv this idea however crazy it is, easy to get to plenty of pubs, and more importantly be our own home.

The floor though is the BPA is home to Cov Rugby, the Coventry Bears, and I may be wrong but also the Coventry Jets. What sort of state would the pitch be in with 4 sports teams on it a week?

50% reduction is still over £600,000, which is 4 times more(ish) than Ipswich pay & still over twice as much as highest Championship pays. So I can see exactly why SISU said feck off. Now I am no SISU fan, but this is all leading me to conclude that the fat cats at ACL &The Council have fleeced CCFC & are very much responsible for the club being where it is now. Can see why SISU have had to do some of the things they have. 24 days a season where income generated (& expenditure), no share of pie/beer sales & have to cover £1.2m in rent, staff salaries. I know powers at Council are Brummies with no affiliation to the City let alone the club, so to me, the more I hear the more I side with SISU.

In what way is council leader John Mutton a Brummie?

I cant stand the man and would usually jump on any opportunity to have a go at him, but he is a Willenhall lad, he is not from Brum.

It would be classed as the Coventry conurbation, so they could get away with it on that basis.

Think the more important issue would be the fact Ryton is simply a field.

A few scaffoldings and it's a stadium ...
