so half the team

You could name just one maybe 2 players and Ipswich spent how much last season?
So let’s take Hutchinson who was a loan out of Ipswich’s team that’s 4

if we got promoted

Wright, sheaf, Eccles, MVE would all feature in a premier league team more often than not.

so out of 4 players. 1 was home grown. 1 was signed for peanuts and the other 2 cost 10 mill in total.

so we’ve wasted 30mill on average players?

The problem is if he gets the next appointment wrong he's going to have to sack him and then we'll probably have 3 managers/head coaches on the pay roll and we'll have a squad that's had 3 managers in under 3,seasons and we're back on the merry go round
That's not a Doug King and Coventry problem that's a football problem for 90 percent of the teams in the league but for a long time,we've been in the other 10 percent.
Yep totally agree, said somewhere on here earlier that ultimately this decision can only be judged in the future when either the new manager has us in the prem or is sacked.

What i will say is, King said he effectively didnt want to gamble on it not turning around and didnt want to risk this squad being squandered, but any new appointment is in itself a huge gamble.
I guess its sport and everything is risky/ a gamble you just have to make a decision and then go with it

Well yeah, it’s not his job to sort out the coaching structure, that was MRs. Otherwise, he would be undermining him by interfering i.e. the very thing people were accusing King of in the first place!
No but there was an interview panel that recruited the coaches - wasn’t solely down to MR, that’s my point.
And he’s essentially saying he got himself the sack - I had no option but to make the decision - and the bit about ‘jolting’ the club was a bit odd.

I think if it was done purely as the initial statement said down to the form and points tally/ performances over prolonged period then it would probably be accepted, just feels like he’s tried to say too much about something else and it’s raised more questions.

If you’re the coaches walking into training tomorrow when the owner has basically said you’re all shite, how do you command any level of respect.

Hopefully kicks them into gear...

Thing I don’t get, robins Loves the club loves the fans and most importantly loves his job, why risk it changing what got us this far, if he couldn’t work with viveash and he wanted viveash gone why not just bring in another assistant and not an army of inexperienced coaches, I get boateng, ex player fans loved, prob won’t get pelters if it went tits up( which it did) massive gamble that cost him his job ? Just seems a very strange choice

The ones who we have wasted money on are certainly Kitching.
I’d be interested to see the breakdown of the 30mil figure.

I reckon it’s much nearer £20m.

and you assume we wouldn’t recoup any money by selling the players by saying we’ve wasted £30m

Bullying people again because they don't fit your narrative. Pathetic

I suppose I should be bullying NHS staff instead like you do? Obviously only certain NHS staff, that is. Prick.

If he’s told the truth, I have no problems with anything he’s said. Especially because of the narrative behind the coaching structure and who was involved in getting rid of AV. The reason it was a curveball because people had this idea that it was all Doug and Dr Roberts.
I don't tend to read much of the gossipy stuff on here, so I may be wrong but I thought it was claimed a while back that some of the players didn't like AV's methods i.e. he was pushed out by player power? If so, did Robins back his players in that scenario?

I didnt mind the bit about jolting the club you know.

I myself this week have been massively of the “oh Mark would have fixed it and we’d have been fine maybe not the play offs but ok” attitude.

I took what Doug meant by the Jolt was “No, we are absolutely going for promotion, we’re not resting on our laurels and being content with being nearly boys or there or there abouts”

I think he’s comfortable with us not getting promoted if we miss out in the play offs, i dont think he’s content with missing out on the play offs.

I kind of admire it, its kind of refreshing to hear it coming out of the club from the very top, we’re here to compete not make up numbers.

My view but out of them, could see Dovin, Thomas and Simms making the step up. All have a lot of work to do but think the talent is there.

But will say not everyone can play in the prem there are 220 players who start each game. Just because they wouldn’t make it to the prem doesn’t mean they can’t help us make it to the prem

I mean GIMOC is saying because these are average players and can’t step up we’ve wasted £30m.
If we planned to sell the entire list we would recoup some value and atleast £10-15m I would assume, so hardly wasting the full amount

We were shitting ourselves Simms was off to Bournemouth or whoever it was
on deadline day.

He's more than capable at this level and he's gonna have to now prove it if Wright is out for a while

you really think we would make profit on the current crop?

Dovin based on his age and his reputation. Why it hasn’t happened here no one has started great but from what I’ve seen from Sweden the potential is there he just needs to work on his communication and be braver in his six yard.

Simms based on his Sunderland loan, his last year from us and silly enough, the fact he has played and scored in the premiership already at a younger age.

Thomas will say again last year and the time he has to grow.

None of these players are complete but I feel from watching them that the pieces are there

Simms is easily good enough. He's the embodiment of a confidence player. Once he nets a few he'll be fine. I really like him.

Mmm. The nearly men tag is actually one I have used in the past since Man Utd.

Got to get ‘it’ done. Thing is MR had done that with us.

So maybe it’s a bit harsh given how we didn’t get over the line the last two times, but I get you.
