Isn’t it the very inconsistency that we complain of to not enforce a rule one minute, and then enforce it the next?

Enforcement to the letter of the rules from minute 1 would soon stamp these behaviours out.
It wouldn’t matey honestly
It’s one of the most eye opening things at ref association meetings that I’ve found with my lad
We discuss subjective situations which pretty much they all are let’s face it and the different opinions in the room are astounding.
Not just that but the discussions around at the different levels of the game different decisions are expected and discussions about what you can convince the players of
How relationship or authority are more important than actual decisions being made
There’s so much subjectivity

The difference between the two is what’s stark. Though what were we doing at corners?
We seem to be much better at corners this season, literally the one thing we're better at, so i'm going to say we're just taking our time to get them right.

6 seconds isn’t subjective.

And we are talking about trying to stamp this out in the professional game.

“Consistency” is a myth that gets recycled weekly by those so called experts on the box that are known as pundits.

I think corners do take a fair amount of time generally when added up. Many occasions you'll see the ref holding up play to try and stop pushing/pulling. Also, the corner taker may not be anywhere near the corner and so may take 30 seconds or so to get the ball, take it to the chosen side and then take the corner. I don't think it's anything intentional.

I think those stats need to be taken with a pinch of salt. I'd imagine that if there is treatment needed for a player or any subs made before play is restarted then that will be taken into account here.

Well the EFL would argue that they are fit enough in the context of a football match.
Trust me-it’s quite stringent and not just a gentle park run amble down the Memorial park.

A bit of context on the corners, We had 12 and they had 2 on Saturday.

How did Brentford manage to get a red card rescinded for this, but Kitching defends himself from being attacked by the Sheffield Wednesday player it gets rejected???

I am worried refs are more concerned with dissent which means their decisions are challenged rather than potential career ending tackles. See Sheffield Wednesday.
Ar Burnley, I thought the Bassette booking was in response to his rep rather than the offence.

Without respect nothing else is possible it’s a hugely important issue which is why dissent is a caution and a careless tackle isn’t

The thing I don't get is we've got a very timid team that don't get at the ref half as much as other teams, yet somehow we pick up loads of cards for dissent.

You’d have to go some to see a worse decision than this foul given by Anthony Taylor yesterday.

I’d like to hear the explanation there’s no need for the aggression in the tackle and he clearly endangers the safety of the opponent
I know you and the person making the video will say he got the ball but that’s not the only consideration

Sorry Pete, not having that for a second. It’s on the ground and from the side, barely touches the player. Certainly not made the challenge in an aggressive manner. Absolutely no chance he’s endangering safety.

Ok subjective but I assure you most refs would say foul

All this talk of safety and danger you’d think before all these ridiculous rules came in we were finishing games with dead players and people losing limbs.

Yep, I don't mind it not being given & I know that's what fans would like, but I guarantee 95% of referees would say that's a foul. Unfortunately, most fans just see "wins ball". The game has changed, the tackler is now directly responsible for his opponents welfare as well.

“welfare” fuck off. It’s a tackle.

Won’t be long before you’ve got to say sorry if you take the ball off someone in case their feelings are hurt.
