I doubt we’re going to get a goalkeeper, we currently have three.

Maybe Wilson is now seen as the backup to Dovin though…

Don't think Kitching will be going anywhere. I actually believe he could be the answer to our defensive frailty. Needs a run of games. Our strongest back four is likely to be MVE, Thomas, Kitching/Lati, Bidwell. With Dovin in goal and Sheaf sitting in front I think we would become quite solid. They just need coaching which I think is now happening.

He's a good old-fashioned pro, a good solid defender who knows his job. You need people like that, not a failed left wingers like da Silva. Stays a lot lot closer to his man. Particularly as we are playing 4-3-3.

I'd be amazed if left back is not one of FL's priorities, if not January then definitely the summer.

Bidwell or Dasilva can be back up, doesn't really matter, but we need a more modern rounded left back there rather than an old fashioned pro.

I’m a fan of his too. I think he’s fine going forward…just think we could do with a younger version.

if we can get a proper LB, perhaps Wagner may fit the bill, we need to keep Bidwell. Dasilva can be moved on, he could do a good job for a team playing wingbacks, but his time with us must be over if we gat someone else in.

RB cover Van Ewijk loan
LB cover for Bidwell loan
Central Defender with experience and a leader.
CM of quality and experience and a leader.

For the last two I would be happy waiting until the summer if it means landing the right people.

For me Dovin and Wilson are fine in goal

We're only allowed one goalie during a match though

loans as cover are a waste of money

I wouldn’t let Dasilva be anywhere near the team again

Hopefully his previous form is not a guide to his true ability.

Horrible turning circle, gets caught for pace too often, with a scatter of red cards.

I rather doubt he will be the answer.

I can’t see any reason why proven Prem players on 100k a week won’t drop down to a bottom half Championship club tbh
Like Dennis Wise?

If a player hasn't squandered their cash they can afford to play for fun at the end of their career. Having family in the Midlands would help after years of a player living a long way from them. Dropping a division as they get older would help prolong their career.

And having Lampard as manager could also help.

No not like that, he’d been out of the top flight for 5 years before joining us.

Scored 6 goals in half a season from midfield too, not a bad return for someone pushing 40
We looked to be going down when he joined. I just thought he was a thug before he played for us. But what a player. Exactly what we need right now. Effortlessly ran the midfield each game. Certainly never came for a last payday.

Dennis Wise had already played for Millwall and Southampton across 3.5 seasons in the championship before joining us.

Is he adequate cover? We're basing that on him doing a job 2 years ago. He can't get a game in the SPL.
Burroughs can’t get in the Kilmarnock team and before that was backup for St Mirren

Had half a season in Lincoln’s team and was banished when he was figured out and realised they had better. Not at this level sadly

Spent 2 seasons in League 1 with Millwall before they got promoted IIRC.

And that's my point. Top players do drop lower than the Prem so they can continue with their careers. Some just want to continue playing and dread retirement. The problem is taking on players that are well past their best.

Tim Sherwood springs to mind ,he was dreadful when he played for us.

I think finding the right experienced player/s is more difficult than fans appreciate ….

Ex premier players come with very high wage expectations, even at the end of their careers.

The game is now so so fast. If you choose players who’s legs are going ( which is why they are stepping down ) they can also be exploited by the opposition unless surrounded by pace elsewhere.

Some clubs have existing players with clauses in their contracts that allow their salaries to increase if they cease to be the highest paid player at the club. ( I doubt we are one )

I think we would really benefit from a Milner, a Tarkoswki etc but they are out of our financial league. For every Milner there are lots of Sherwood’s looking for one last pay day , for every Takowski there are Hendry’s etc.

Therefore the idea that it’s criminal that we have not found / secured such players is a little illogical.

If the rumours are to be believed we tried for experienced championship players in Browne, Worall etc but they chose teams who are having much much better seasons than we are.
