He gets some real shit from some of our fans especially when he's been played as a lone striker, he needs to be played in a 2 or centrally in a 3 and he will score goals.
He gets shit because he doesn't always give 100% effort.
When he plays like he did today he's a big handful for anyone, but some games he's absolutely anonymous.

Bassette didn't get the chance to play as a front 2, but always put a shift in.

He does give 100% that's just nonsense .
He seems a very introverted young man which won't help with his body language or his languid style when he's not performing well .
When he's confident he's a real menace and a huge asset to the side , up there with the best in the league

I can't agree that he always gives 100%.
He was woeful earlier this season and got dropped in favour of Bassette.

Credit to him for coming back stronger and re-energised, and yes he's a real asset when he uses his physicality.

He’s so good and so much potential too.

I’m convinced his introverted personality is the reason he isn’t a fan favourite and is often on the boo boys list.

Anyone still crying for the bloke who runs around a lot and points for the ball in impossible places?

Just heard him say in his interview that it was good to get the winner in front of SBA as ‘theyve always had my back’. That was great to hear as I worry sometimes that the noisy negative minority might make their feelings known more than the majority. He was possibly mismanaged earlier in the season, obviously a confidence player who needs to know he’s the main man. Been brilliant recently

He started 8/12 under Robins, including 6 of the first 7. Then 1 of Lampard's first 7. It was Lampard's obsession with Bassette that was mind boggling.

It was possibly more that he knew he would be off after 60 mins. Not picking him after he scored against Watford away was bizarre, as was Lampard sticking with bassette for so long.

I think bassette will come good by the way, bags of potential but not a lone striker as others have said

Yeah, maybe. He's a lad that thrives on confidence, keeping him firing is crucial now.

Agreed on Bassette too. He's miles off it now but has lots of good attributes.

Which is why players need games under their belt / Lampard said he was sussing people out. Hope he‘s twigged about our defensive frailties.

I think perhaps he’s good second half of seasons. Both seasons for us he didn’t start off the best but grew as the season went on.
Fingers crossed he continues to shine as we have some really winnable games coming up

There's been quite a few on this site declaring just how shit he is, over many threads.

Always struck he that he was a confidence player and when he's low on confidence, he looks distinctively average. But when he's good, he's very good.

He went on a very decent run of goals last season and really hoping he can do the same again now.

So glad he's found some form again. 🤞

Great to see him back in this form, as it shows he's a top centre forward when he's on it and has all the physical attributes to be a menace.

But at the same time it also shows why people get frustrated when he seemingly drops off from that level for no apparent reason.

If he can harness the inner beast more consistently, he could probably play at a higher level.
