A 12000 stadium outside of Coventry is about 10,000 seats too many.
Now a stadium for Coventry City (the team who are from and play in Coventry) it is nowhere near big enough.

Just looked it up and over the past 94 years (when CCFC joined the Football League) and out of that only in 12 seasons was the average low enough to fit into a 12k stadium.
Exactly,so you haven't a got a clue about how us Coventry folk really feel about our football club potentially playing outside the city permanently.
If it leaves our city permanently then it isn't ccfc anymore.
I wouldn't expect you to understand that though.

You've got a good point there. I bet the season tickets would be astronomical.Im sure the Warwickshire locals will embrace the new franchise club though.

Ok, so your limiting the amount of fans that come through.
Tell me, how do you think Norwich went from getting crowds of 14k in the late 90's to 23k ten years later?
Free tickets for kids etc?
No club outside the top of the prem can exclude its fan base in such a way and expect a future.
It would just price the family out of going.

I know we did, but what year was it and what was the average wage then around the area Cov fans live in, as £10 a ticket then is not worth the same now .
I can not believe someone is advocating increasing the price of matchday and season ticket to create the same income, so a smaller stadium can be built.

It was 6 years ago and the RPI index now makes little difference. Admission prices are almost identical.

So when we had 20,000 a season watching what was the average price?
Without freebies giveaways half price offers and bring a kid for a quid we have never had more than 14,000 fans.
With your logic you'd have a corner shop and but land big enough for a superstore just in case your shop got too busy.

I'm talking about average over a season. Clearly the occasional game against big opposition would attract more but then so would any club.
The Ricoh swelled grounds for a while but the evidence is simple - gate receipts divided by attendees over a season. At the Ricoh at its peak the average fan paid £10 a game which is a massive reduction of list price - this shows distress and a need to artificially swell attendances.

Young fans should be free. Every ticket at a premium would get rid of kids.
A stadium of adults all paying full price is not what I want.
Although it may make commercial sense to do this you would be heartless to carry it out.
I can see therefore why you like it.

The Ricoh at its peak had more season ticket holders, who do pay less per game than the pay on the gate fans. That is the same at every club for the past 100 years.
It doesn't necessarily suggest freebies or discounts, it just suggests more season ticket holders.
If the club is ever successful again then it will always happen.
Unless your advocating season tickets that work out the same as a match day ticket then there isn't anything you can do about it.

By me they run smaller buses when it is night or early morning as they don't need big buses.
You don't see a lorry delivering a single parcel do you?
I wouldnt go and buy an office for 100 people even I have 2 people working there just in case I grow that far down the line would I?
Would a haulage company just starting out buy 100 lorries when they only actually need 10 at that moment in time? If their business took off and they needed to expand they would just buy more, surely?
As long as it can grow with the club I don't see the issue, the ricoh was mostly empty and if I remember people moaned about that.
That is even if it is 12,000, that is even if it is built... I am just going to shout at the bus driver because he might run me over one day!

We got less than 9k at a home game last season I think? We were in a big stadium then....

Why am I? What I am saying is that surely there is no point building a huge stadium if it will never be filled. If we got promoted and it could be extended then surely that is better business sense?
I am missing the point with the wolves comparison because we had poor attendances at the ricoh?

How long do you think it takes to extend even a single stand with planning permission etc?
Do you think crowds will always be this low?
Is 12k now the level of ambition of this club?

In the end you would have to build a stadium footprint, core infrastructure, get planning, access roads, parking, health and safety clearance etc for the maximum capacity. The capital savings of not putting in a few 1000 seats or plumbing in a few bogs or catering outlets wouldn't be that much. Especially if offset by missing out on some big gate opportunities.
I suspect the reality is Sisu don't have the capital for a bigger stadium and they are just spinning. Unless the world apart from Sisu has been missing out on the wonders of Rotherham.

As said, there is no proof it will be 12k anyway is there or if there is a stadium at all...
As I said earlier I am no stadium builder but IF it could be extended easily then I don't see the issue with a smaller stadium, I think more like 17 - 19000 though rather than 12k.
I just don't see the point in building a huge stadium we would never fill.

I am just been realistic, I'm not expecting champions league in 4 years so don't see the need for a 30k stadium, although if it was going to full week in week out then it would be great.
If we did have a huge stadium that was empty week in week out then people would just moan how it was soulless etc.
We aren't a premier league club any more, I'm hoping we are again in my lifetime though.

If you plan for a premiership stadium, then the footprint of the stadium would have to be 25000+. If you don't put 12000 seats in, I think you might still find it a bit 'soulless'!
Sorry but there isn't a Sisu magic stadium.

Just few thoughts on some of the comments on this thread.
SISU are contemplating building a new 12,000 seater stadium. They must be sitting in there office thinking whether or not this is a goer or not.
They need to way up the amount of money they need to spend OR go back cap in hand to ACL/CCC who have in reality offered them an olive branch.
They need the support of fans if they build a stadium smaller than at any time in the clubs history.
If they come on here they will see fans saying it is big enough and some saying it will be too big. Some fans are saying that outside the city boundary is acceptable and some say that 10 miles away is okay.
Think about it, say what you would like to see in reality and give SISU no feeling that this is a plan for success. We can all argue the merits of a small stadium but in reality it is not what we want.
Save that for later, in the meantime tell them you want the Ricoh and dismiss forever the thoughts in SISU management that they may have a plan with this small stadium.
Unite for a few weeks and tell them to get back to the Ricoh. If you bump into Fisher today tell him you want to move back. Do all you can to side with any negotiating process to bring us back home.
Never was so much owed by so many to so few ....................... sorry lost it for a second !!
