I'm more than happy to go to games at Northampton. Of course, Tim will need to cover my £100 train tickets to and from Scotland, £20 match ticket and another £20 for refreshments.

Take it "pugwash" you didn't believe when they said "a football club will only survive long-term if they own their own ground & have access to all revenue streams", so if we can't get an agreement on the Ricoh we'll move out and move on" and that's why we're playing in Northampton. So guess you said it would never happen, reality however is very different.

I was working in Brighton when I signed up to SBT but that was on industrial placement as part of my degree which I did in Scotland. Now based up there doing a PhD at the same uni.

Exactly Otis so really can't get my head round why any passionate Coventry City fan would find it preferable to rent a 12,000 capacity ground outside the city we take our name from and who we represent rather than having a similar scenario at a a 32,500 Olympic stadium built for us inside our city. Keep saying it but if you aspire to be tinpot you become tinpot....
But If you can gain personal satisfaction from It ,so much the better.

It's a madness. something I've said many times.
Moving from a Premiership quality stadium, which is ready to go, to a new stadium that has to be planned, designed and built and that will be further away, cheaper standard and of a much lower capacity.
If we were to own the new stadium then maybe people would have a point.
It HAS to be the Ricoh.

I clearly remember him saying it when asked the question at one of the forums or on CWR. He said he didn't know exactly who would be owning the stadium, but that CCFC would be paying rent.

Its people swallowing the story that the club needs to own the Freehold that annoys me.
I get why the club needs to own the lease, and its benefits.
The Freehold however, it makes no difference to CCFC if it belongs to Sisu or CCC (except I trust CCC's intentions more to do what is right for the city).

I do not take the piss out or make comments at them but they feel it is alright to do it to me. If there would have been any trouble I know who would have got the blame.

I hoped it wouldn't come to that ..... but in reality it was always somewhat likely.
Regardless of why the club was so far from breaking even, I don't think anyone seriously disagrees that the rent/revenue situation was going to be realistic on a long-term basis. Given that ACL didn't initially want to give up much (and I don't blame them) then the ONLY solution was to break the lease and build a new stadium. If Sisu had laid out the facts up front, stated that they were looking for an appropriate location, made offers, requested planning permission etc. BEFORE refusing to pay rent then I truly believe that the majority of fans would have been on their side - even if that meant playing in Northampton for the duration of the build. But a year (?) later there is still no evidence that they intend to build anything; only an agreement on Brandon (which everyone knows will never happen), and an agreement on a mysterious site that nobody can know about - presumably because there are lots of property developers / management companies out there that are poised to jump in and steal it if only they could figure out where it was.
Seriously, WTF, if there is any suitable land for retail development do you really think that these companies won't already know about it? It's a secret because either it doesn't exist or they don't want a barrage of criticism as it won't get approved or it's too far out of Cov. I would love to be proven wrong, but Sisu have a long record of BS and misdirection. They can't even get their own story straight ... ML says they won't ever be a tenant then TF states that buying a long leasehold might also be acceptable. Frankly I'm of the opinion that JS/TF/ML are stupid, or they think we are - not sure which is worse.

I disagree. Why do you think that zero attendance would be any different to 1,000? From a publicity standpoint certainly it would be a big news item. Emotionally too for the fans.
However I don't believe that either of these things would influence SISU at all. Their only driver is money, and the difference between £10k and £0 for an attendance is small potatoes compared to the £30mm they hope to get by getting the Ricoh and land.

To me it looks like their latest plan backfired. Win the JR and go for loss of earnings. Forced out of the Ricoh into a ground not big enough and too far away for many fans. But a rent free period and then less than Northampton was offered through the FL. ACL can now prove this. They even said after the offer that they won't be looking at suing the council. So is the next plan to be looking for a long term rental agreement with peppercorn rent and ACL taken out of the equation? More or less where we would have been if they would have bought out ACL. ..but maybe without Compass there either.
SISUE never seem to ask for what they want. They say what they want. And if they get this by buying out ACL most of us would be happy.

We all know that they thought the attendances would be much higher than the highest so far at the worst. So they are having to find more money each week. If they want to hold out for a few years they will have to find a lot more money than expected. This gives us a much better chance of them coming to some sort of agreement.
