Manager interviews ongoing - from the official

I just don't get the logic that Phil Brown would require sacking next season - whereas one of your lower league choices wouldn't.

I'm sure people said the same thing when we changed it about 50 years ago. Maybe because it's shit and seemingly unlucky...

Manager interviews ongoing - from the official

Wise didn't have Poyet at Millwall - where he managed them to an FA Cup final v Man Utd. He doesn't need Poyet - it's just a popular thing to say right now as Poyet appears to be decent and Wise isn't managing.

If money was no obstacle maybe i'd knock down the absolutely crap town centre and put the stadium in the middle of the ring road, raised up so people look up at it in awe :-) It would certainly be a focal point for the community then. I think that the Ricoh's location makes people feel like it...

Haha, Richie - think you mean reinvented. ;) I would name the club something else to try and be more inclusive to the towns of Warwickshire; but then Coventry isn't technically in Warwickshire - so I guess you might lose a lot of the Coventry based support that way... I wouldn't play in Sky...

Manager interviews ongoing - from the official

You lot make me laugh. So it's accepted that everywhere Davies has gone he's spent big, and his chief accomplishment is getting Derby to the Premier League (and then having an ABSOLUTE SHOCKER - a record low points haul I seem to recall. Yet this serial moaner is somehow better than Phil Brown...

CET: TF & SW completed interviews yesterday

Lucky for West Brom they weren't obsessed with Hodgson's Liverpool stats when deciding whether to hire him. One bad experience doesn't make for a bad Manager. Sometimes things don't click.
  9. @richh87

Do managers really make that much of a difference?

They can do - but they can't do it all for them. It has to be a motivator that we hire; and he has to have a clear plan of how we are to score goals - as our current plan is poor.

So that season when he kept Hull in the Perm counts against him? Surely that will have dragged the ratio right down. Stats don't tell the whole story at all.

What about Hull City miracle worker Phil Brown?

    SSN: Phil Brown being interviewed!

Not sure what people have against Brown. They do realise it's Phil, not Gordon, right?!

    SSN: Phil Brown being interviewed!

Depends what we mean by hard nut. There are lots of Managers who command respect because they're tough cookies. Fergie, Big Sam - they don't have to be Vinny Jones.
  14. @richh87

    SSN: Phil Brown being interviewed!

Yep we need them to be as good tactically as possible. I just want them to also be a hard nut as watching Baker and McSheffrey only play well on poignant occasions makes me seeth.

    SSN: Phil Brown being interviewed!

Because they have more talent than the opposition - just seemingly can't be arsed.

    SSN: Phil Brown being interviewed!

Well he certainly bollocks players. He got and kept Hull up so must be decent tactically - as his players weren't the best at all.

    lets get real

I usually agree with you MMM, but I actually think this is a great job for someone looking to build/rebuild their reputation. We have a talented squad, certainly capable of promotion in theory. We've seen how a promotion can make a Manager flavour of the month and get him a move to a better...

    lets get real

How is wanting Phil Brown (a Manager who got Hull City to the top flight AND kept them up) 'stupid', but choosing some flavour of the month who hasn't managed above League 2 a great idea? Nobody knows who will do well and who will do badly - that's what makes football so interesting. One...

    Same choices as me!

Rumour is it is out of two, but who ?

Dublin did half time analysis of England v Sweden on stage at the Assembly in Leamington during the Euros. He said nothing insightful and didn't come across as a big thinker.
