    Thorn Up To The Job?

Most of the polls have been extremely favourable to Thorn since he took the reins, so any change is significant. Or, by your own standards, ask yourself this question: would there have been the same polling numbers after a similar pre-season loss at this point last season?

    Thorn Up To The Job?

Why is the term "knee-jerk" even being thrown about? The bloke's been in charge for over a year.

    Portsmouth- what on earth

Pompey is merely a symptom of a greater problem; it'd be a mistake to single them out. Football needs much greater, firmer regulation. I remember the former league chief, Brian Mawhinney, once saying that chairmen of clubs begged him to tighten the rules of the game because they could not trust...

    Thorn Up To The Job?

A somewhat bogus argument. Managers are something of a lottery pick more often than not. The two most successful managers we've had over the past decade - Nilsson and Black - were both internal appointments, i.e. affordable.

Your Top Qualities of a football manager

I don't really have any. Football management just seems so random, chaotic. A manager with a spotless record can go to a bigger club with better resources and fall flat on his arse. A manager who has been sacked from his last two jobs can find success the third time around. It's all...

    CRAIG BELLAMY - love him/hate him ???

He comes across as a nasty piece of work, from his post-Cov comments to his questionable run-ins with the law. Players like Froggatt and Shearer haven't been shy in slagging him off. The charity work is all very well and good, but it's the least anybody should expect of a top-tier footballer.

    sacking managers

Maybe it would have done had the strategy been properly implemented. Nilsson and Black, for example, were two managers doing good things with the club, but both were unfairly fired. Nothing wrong with chopping-and-changing five or six managers to get to a Black or Nilsson.

    Bile ad nauseum

But I presume you'd be all for a change of a specific MP, Prime Minister, boss etc. What's the difference? Reid and Dowie are unemployed, Boothroyd and Adams are managing L2 clubs, and Coleman is manager of a fourth-rate nation due to politics. I think a lot of managers can be successful at a...

    Bile ad nauseum

You're mixing two concepts; the implication there is that if you don't support the manager then you don't support the club, but surely you can see that sometimes it is necessary to be unsupportive of a manager to be supportive of the club. Why else would any fan call for a manager's head...

    Bile ad nauseum

You realise you just did the same thing, right? Mine is not an account with one post making sweeping statements about people; there are hundreds of posts supporting the conclusive statement. I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to prove here - that I haven't accused people of putting Thorn...

    Bile ad nauseum

I've put together 10 months of posts quoting specific users, substantiating my points, and using a healthy amount of statistics to support my arguments. You'll find a pretty consistent line of argument. It's all there if you wish to look for it - and I think it makes for more compelling evidence...

Many - too many - put Thorn above the club last season.

Kirkland was a fantastic, generationally-good prospect. A real shame what happened to him.

    Are SISU heading for forgiveness

I don't know - that's why I said it was an uncertain future. What I do know is that the CCFC board continually said that SISU were the only interested party for the club. They were so desperate as to humour the likes of Dhinsa and Alki David. Not exactly stable ground on which to bet the...

    Are SISU heading for forgiveness

Bottom of the Championship table (after 10 point deduction) and facing an uncertain future with administration. Preferable to where we are now?

A bit of a straw man, MMM. SISU's performance to date is a whole different topic, but you'd be hard-pressed to say that the money wasn't going into the football club.

It is probably the most effective strategy for the club (assuming they're more productive than crocked).
