It won't happen anyway but actually 12,000 is a good idea. Why? Well for once youse have a situation that demand outstrips supply and any industry tells you this is an ideal way of controlling business.
No discounted tickets
No free tickets
Premium pricing
No need for huge discounts to season ticket holders
The revenue would easily be worth more than 16,000 at the Ricoh - easily.
A great idea for TF.
Reduce the capacity of Sixfields to 450, auction the tickets on eBay - watch the riches roll in
Puerile response - acknowledgment that my point is valid.
A 12000 stadium outside of Coventry is about 10,000 seats too many.
Now a stadium for Coventry City (the team who are from and play in Coventry) it is nowhere near big enough.
Exactly, the community asset is hardly in the City.
No, won't go to Northampton. Would I go to see City in a stadium "near" Coventry? Yes, I would. I don't come from Coventry and have never lived there so have always travelled. The Ricoh was farther for me to get to than HR. In the 70s and 80s I used to go to the Speedway like many on here no doubt did. They're not in Coventry either, but didn't stop us going.
Nope, nothing to do with postcode, SISU, size of ground, revenue potential (laughable coming from someone who doesn't want the club to own it's own stadium) or the affect on the local community. That's it.
Just looked it up and over the past 94 years (when CCFC joined the Football League) and out of that only in 12 seasons was the average low enough to fit into a 12k stadium.
So what? Charge more money and get more revenue.

I think there's confusion with some on here (me included sometimes).
Some are saying that we shouldn't go to a stadium 9 miles out of town as we don't go to a stadium over 34 miles way. The difference being that the stadium over 30 miles away isn't ours but the stadium 9 miles away (if every built) would be owned by CCFC. The size is a different matter (what I tell the missus....).
On that note, the Ricoh is too big although I'd be delighted if we were back there. 12,000 isn't enough though. Something the size of HR would actually be ideal.
WM
When were we averaging 22000 ?
I know we did, but what year was it and what was the average wage then around the area Cov fans live in, as £10 a ticket then is not worth the same now .
This argument is quite simply a waste of oxygen
Oh dear Grendel's been on the red wine.
Talk about clueless. You have enough relatively cheap capacity to cover and indeed burst to increased demand like cup games, local derbies.
With his logic internet providers would be limiting bandwidth, supermarkets would under provide stock....
12000 and we are a div 3 team.
So when we had 20,000 a season watching what was the average price?
Without freebies giveaways half price offers and bring a kid for a quid we have never had more than 14,000 fans.
With your logic you'd have a corner shop and but land big enough for a superstore just in case your shop got too busy.
Grendal you would be the first to say this, and you know I am right, you would post ,show me the facts/stats to back that claim that we had never more then 14,000 fans at games due to freebies etc.
I am not arguing with you, I don't do arguing anymore, but that is one big claim there .
I'm talking about average over a season. Clearly the occasional game against big opposition would attract more but then so would any club.
The Ricoh swelled grounds for a while but the evidence is simple - gate receipts divided by attendees over a season. At the Ricoh at its peak the average fan paid £10 a game which is a massive reduction of list price - this shows distress and a need to artificially swell attendances.

Pop a hill behind one of the stands.

With Your logic every company would only build buildings/trains/Buses/coaches/ships/planes for the smallest amount of people. Any company with ambition builds for the maximum other wise they will not grow

Wolves lowest home crowd this season was 15,959.
Sheff Utd all home crowds larger than 15,000
So I guess you're all happy to be a smaller club..
We got less than 9k at a home game last season I think? We were in a big stadium then....
I really think your missing the point.
Why am I? What I am saying is that surely there is no point building a huge stadium if it will never be filled. If we got promoted and it could be extended then surely that is better business sense?
I am missing the point with the wolves comparison because we had poor attendances at the ricoh?
So do you think its cost effective to alter the size of the stadium every season?
Do you not find it humiliating that we are even considering a 12k stadium?
How long do you think it takes to extend even a single stand with planning permission etc?
Do you think crowds will always be this low?
Is 12k now the level of ambition of this club?
As said, there is no proof it will be 12k anyway is there or if there is a stadium at all...
As I said earlier I am no stadium builder but IF it could be extended easily then I don't see the issue with a smaller stadium, I think more like 17 - 19000 though rather than 12k.
I just don't see the point in building a huge stadium we would never fill.
We fill it when we're successful.
Seems you don't have much faith in the football side of things in the coming years.
I am just been realistic, I'm not expecting champions league in 4 years so don't see the need for a 30k stadium, although if it was going to full week in week out then it would be great.
If we did have a huge stadium that was empty week in week out then people would just moan how it was soulless etc.
We aren't a premier league club any more, I'm hoping we are again in my lifetime though.
