Agree it’s kind of like giving it to a striker in football. Let them concentrate on what they are good at, attacking!Should never have given the Captaincy to Root, its turned him from an exciting reliable talent to a hopeless failure.
They never learn.
England at Cardiff springs to mind.Fucking Lyon faking an injury!
Agree. Certainly would have taken a couple of wickets before the close.Although they will win Australia should have enforced the follow on as they had a chance to get at England again under the lights and I think they would have won by an innings
They are are 268 ahead at the moment, so I would guess at 272.Agree...I think it’s a poor tactical decision by the Aussies. Has released the pressure on our batsman for a couple sessions at least. Also although they are still favourites to win they have opened the possibility of a draw. All depends when the Aussies feel they can declare without the possibility of England chasing them down.

Great! So, when are the one dayers?
They would have to declare at some point tomorrow to give us a total to chase or leave it too late and risk the draw. They are are 268 ahead at the moment, so I would guess at 272.
Hmm, do disagree unfortunately.Right decision not enforce the follow on, rest them up bat England out the game and skittle us out for under 200.
With 268 runs in the bank, I think Australia can flail the bat if they choose to, knowing it's unlikely that this England side have either the technique or application to score 300+ runs in the 4th innings. Ànd for that blame too many players schooled in 20/20 and one day cricket rather than the longer form of the game.Hmm, do disagree unfortunately.
In theory it may have been correct, but now England have taken 4 wickets, Australia now can't come out and flail the bat and score quick runs. Think they will now have to tread carefully and consolidate. They can't afford to lose 2 or 3 more quick wickets.
If they had made England follow on we would have surely been a couple of wickets down at least by the end of play.
I don't think they will flail the bat though. If they got to say 55 for 6 panic would set in.With 268 runs in the bank, I think Australia can flail the bat if they choose to, knowing it's unlikely that this England side have either the technique or application to score 300+ runs in the 4th innings. Root desperately needs a good score.I'm going 218 all out.
