Vaccinations back up again which is obviously great news (443k)
Case numbers still stubbornly high (29k), frustrating when in lockdown, schools off etc however at least dropping a fair bit week in week (30%). Also as a percentage of tests taken its reduced massively. Was about 10% at peak however there was 750k tests yesterday so good reduction (still don’t know about tests/people tested but as a comparison it’s a lot better)
Presume it’s Scotland letting the side down jacking off Sturgeon for being the slowest
To be fair (I hate to say it as we share the same opinion of her) they have upped their game with 53k yesterday
The EU have enacted rules that means vaccine exports basically have to be approve
Which is fair enough I just get pissed off with her approval ratings for making little tweaks to Johnson’s moves and being behind the rest of the UK on vaccines that Westminster procured ahead of anyone else
we'd do exactly the sameMaking Remainers like me burn through the goodwill pretty quick

it's very opposite, protectionism seeks to limit importsTrump like protectionism

I don't think anyone is shocked at that. Every country is of course acting in their best interests. But every country is struggling to get the amount of doses they ordered and they aren't all storming into manufacturing facilities or trying to block doses reaching other countries.why is anyone shocked the eu is only interested in the interests of the eu?

That's fair enough, but if they've signed a piss poor contract with AZ which is unenforceable, they should not be using legislation to otherwise restrain AZ's ability to export its goods. It is a massive overreach.
Oh yes, it's definitely the opposite of protectionism which is to allow unrestrained international trade. LOL
It’s because it’s not fucking lockdown. Although schools in general are not open to majority of students the average for Primary is anywhere between 30% and 50% depending on region (I have school colleagues that send their kids into school even though they work at home every day bar one day in 2 weeks) Shit employers are forcing their employees into the office for no good reason. Not to mention public transport being packed in certain places/times and it may go to explain the stubbornness of the positive cases.Vaccinations back up again which is obviously great news (443k)

Always worries me when no deaths are announced on John Hopkins
brother in laws dad and friend from church both in itu at uhcw
Friend from church wife died last week heart attack after severe Covid. Praying their kids don’t lose both mum and dad in a fortnight
Feeling emotional
Who's shocked? Beautiful sidestep though to slightly change the angle of your point.

The EU regs being drawn up to block exports have to be enacted at the discretion of a member state. I doubt very much an individual state would be as silly so as to apply it.
Do you think it not being a proper lockdown will drag this along further?TBH case numbers got so high, 81k by specimen date on 29th Dec, so with R around or just below 1 it is going to take some time for that number to fall
Its not even just down to shit employers, its down to parents who can't be bothered to look after their own kids. It’s because it’s not fucking lockdown. We had a team meeting yesterday and several people who are working from home 100% of the time spoke about how their kids were in nursery or school as they'd managed to get their partner classed as an essential worker and apparently it only needs one parent to qualify.
I know - 2 areas where transmission was far less...Fair point Ian...boozers and gyms are shut though...two key components in my life
Change? This was a direct reply to you and BSB.
Does anyone really see them going through with the threat to block exports. Imagine you're the country whose order is blocked because the EU want to jump the queue, are you just going to shrug your shoulders and say OK. Look what happened when there was even a rumour that India was planning to do similar, huge pressure was put on them and they very quickly had to come out and say it wouldn't happen.
