Out of interest given that you clearly think you have covid are you still mixing with other people or have you isolated yourself?Stop getting tested, simple
I came down with cold earlier in the week and took a LFT just in case which came back negative. The cynic in me says I would've tested positive if I went for an official PCR test
The thing is, people are being told they could have covid if they have a runny nose.Out of interest given that you clearly think you have covid are you still mixing with other people or have you isolated yourself?
There was someone from the NHS on the radio this week who said that people keep talking about the NHS collapsing like there will be a single point at which it all falls apart. As they pointed out the reality is it is already collapsing and has been for years. Every winter there are queues of ambulances as there aren't enough beds. The entire system is on the brink of collapse and can’t cope any longer.
Not suggesting everyone who has the slightest sniffle should isolate but skyblue1991 must think he has covid if he thinks he would fail a PCR.The thing is, people are being told they could have covid if they have a runny nose.

Although that does open up a whole other argument about our attitude to dragging ourselves into the office when we're ill and passing it round everyone and if that's really the best way to behave.
Gig I was due at last night got postponed last minute until Feb. 22.
Going to see my eldests 1st ever art exhibition this afternoon... really hope they don't panic and cancel that too.
Off down south next week to catch up with my unvaccinated brother and kids and then test before collecting my old mum to bring her back north for Xmas.
I'm getting boosted tomorrow and now have the attitude of cracking on as normal with everything and leave it to others if they want to join in or sit it out.
Meant to be going the pub tonight although the original 8 is already down to 3 of us...pppfft.
Although I didn’t think it would actually happen anyway, but not addressing one of the prime drivers of infection rates in a population that is likely to be less vaccinated (kids) makes the other restrictions a little pointless.
Thats why you go for a pcr test. If its just a common cold it will come back negative and you go to work as normal. The thing is though, people will see the list of symptoms and think they have it. Runny nose, aching, scratchy throat.
Imagine ringing a boss and saying they aren't going to work because they have a runny nose.
I'll be going to work regardless of how rough I feel and will do a lateral.
Is this a thing? I thought LFT was enough to keep going as 'normal'?Thats why you go for a pcr test. If its just a common cold it will come back negative and you go to work as normal.

How often? Do I isolate while I wait for the results? Do I book time off to go for one even if my lateral flows say negative?Thats why you go for a pcr test. If its just a common cold it will come back negative and you go to work as normal.

100% agree but they still have no idea of real life impact of natural immunity, vaccines and boosters on severe illness/hospitalisation.
They’re open the majority of the day and you usually get your results back the next. Hardly a big effortHow often? Do I isolate while I wait for the results? Do I book time off to go for one even if my lateral flows say negative?
Yes, lateral flows are for asymptomatic testing, if you have any symptoms you should have a pcr.Is this a thing? I thought LFT was enough to keep going as 'normal'?
Just 2 days wages lost or 2 half days? They’re open the majority of the day and you usually get your results back the next. Hardly a big effort
It's December and the omicron symptoms are so vague and minimal then we may as well bring in daily PCR.Yes, lateral flows are for asymptomatic testing, if you have any symptoms you should have a pcr.

You should get a pcr if you are symptomatic regardless of the lateral flow result. You'd only do it once, and theoretically you should isolate until the result comes back the next day.How often? Do I isolate while I wait for the results? Do I book time off to go for one even if my lateral flows say negative?
Again there's the psychology, 10 minutes on Google and you can be made to think you have cancer. For some people there's no doubt they will think they have omicron.

Its not really psychology, you get a test done, get the result and then you know you've either got it or not.

I didn't make the rule/guidelines , I'm only saying what they are.So while i isolate because my nose is running for the day who pays my wages?
What happens if the week after I start to ache and my throat feels funny but my PCR last week was negative? Do another?
As I said, I'll just do lateral flows and carry on.
I know I'm just saying how far should people take it. Even more so when the symptoms listed are so basic.I didn't make the rule/guidelines , I'm only saying what they are.

That's better! I get that a bit more! The government website states to get a PCR test if you have a temperature, new cough or change to taste/smell. It doesn't mention runny nose etc
Not updated for the new variant then? The government website states to get a PCR test if you have a temperature, new cough or change to taste/smell. It doesn't mention runny nose etc
I don't think I had covid, I think I had a cold and the LFT says I'm negative. What I'm saying is would a PCR test say the same thing? Plenty of cases (including a post today) where a LFT is negative but a PCR is positiveOut of interest given that you clearly think you have covid are you still mixing with other people or have you isolated yourself?
Lets hope it isnt covid and kills yoir grandparents, then again from. Your post you dont care anyway. No chance, I'm fine and my immediate family I'm with over Xmas are fine so not going to risk any plans with a week to go!

Fucking madness.Lets hope it isnt covid and kills yoir grandparents, then again from. Your post you dont care anyway.
Got a whatsapp last night that a gig which was rescheduled for Feb next year is now next November.
Don't know if its covid related but worrying if it is. Don't need another year of this shit.
Good luck with the art exhibition, hope it goes well for your eldest.

So I'll just keep doing them then and carrying on while they say negative. EasyThat’s 3 ‘the thing’s in 3 posts. ‘The thing is’ the LFT catches when you are most infectious. If you’re symptomatic and therefore oozing with virus then it should always turn up positive.
Yes most people may have mild symptoms but the larger spread could lead to more in hospital.
To use someone else's figures yet again:
Variant a infects 10 people and 1 of those people ends up in hospital
Variant b infects 50 people and 2 end up in hospital
Variant a is a more severe variant of the virus but variant b due to the transmission rate actually leads to more people ending up in hospital.
This has been explained countless times on here as well
LFT is only 50% accurate, although it is rare to get a false positive on a LFT. There was a good post on twitter the other day about the accuracy of LFTs, I'll try and find it.I don't think I had covid, I think I had a cold and the LFT says I'm negative.
