At the peak they had 40 on ventilators. It really is mental as I think that is at least double what they ICU capacity was pre COVID.I was told last night by a nurse at UHCW that they currently only have three Covid+ cases in ICU.
Is it bonkers to just be like…the govt need to invest in a shit load more permanent NHS capacity especially ventilators etc cause this shit isn’t going awayAt the peak they had 40 on ventilators. It really is mental as I think that is at least double what they ICU capacity was pre COVID.
They'll let private companies like BUPA buy all the stock and push some bullshit "If you want to be sure you get the care you need buy insurance" then when a load do it'll be used as evidence that private healthcare is popular. Is it bonkers to just be like…the govt need to invest in a shit load more permanent NHS capacity especially ventilators etc cause this shit isn’t going away
Bupa and the like would never ever take on provision of services for people that are critically ill, it needs far too much infrastructure, for example, lots of people with severe pneumonia suffer kidney failure too. They'll let private companies like BUPA buy all the stock and push some bullshit "If you want to be sure you get the care you need buy insurance" then when a load do it'll be used as evidence that private healthcare is popular.
Maybe people who’ve paid for one to go abroad?I may need educating (I’m sure I do), when I went to get my PCR today, I initially drove to the wrong entrance and was told it was for people who’d paid for a PCR?
What’s that about?
Ah yeah…I guess that makes sense.Maybe people who’ve paid for one to go abroad?
Boris Johnson spending 3 hours earlier locked in meetings trying his poor little damndest to ruin everybodys Xmas but he can’t win this one….death rates remain low so tough shit
Was speaking to a mate who works as a radiographer in one of the hospitals hete in Brum earlier too & he said theres hardly any people in there with it either (even at the peak of the pandemic they were all scratching around looking for work to do & were more busier doing the inane TikTok videos etc…same as at my hospital - the NHS never has been, and still isn’t,under any strain whatsoever)
Woke up with the symptoms today but no Rona on the test so had a Paracetamol and an extra hoodie for work.
Get a pcr done if you want peace of mind if you’re going to be around higher risk family/friends over Xmas (and don’t mind fucking up Xmas plans !). LFs weren’t picking up mine before or after positive pcr. Your call though ultimately

PCR is the only one you're supposed to take with symptoms isn't it? Isn't the LFT for people without symptoms to check before they go somewhere?Get a pcr done if you want peace of mind if you’re going to be around higher risk family/friends over Xmas (and don’t mind fucking up Xmas plans !). Probably the biggest load of bullshit I've ever read on here.

Isn’t it the media who are reporting the stats you’ve just quoted? Unless you have another source? On the 15th September, we were effectively back to normal with no restrictions at all and the UK recorded 201 covid deaths. We were about halfway from second jabbing the 20-30 year old range
Last Wednesday we recorded 164 deaths, with mask wearing back and Omricon in the UK for about two weeks. In those two weeks cases increased daily from 45k to 78k on the 15th December.
We had 84 deaths the weekend just gone (Saturday + Sunday) and 220 during the weekend of September 18th + 19th
I can't help feel this has been massively overhyped by the media

From what?Of course it has been overhyped. Trying to scare as many people as possible.
It's a distraction.

Well, the media aren’t doing a very good job at distracting people then.Their own fuckups.
I was told last night by a nurse at UHCW that they currently only have three Covid+ cases in ICU.
There's irony in the last sentenceIt could be but as the science says we don't know yet as it is too early
You keep coming on here to say the same thing
Is that going to be a permanent thing? Hopefully it can come down again to maybe 5 if possible.Hopefully a bit of better, and I believe sensible, news
I don’t think it’s overhyped so much - although some of the media is definitely guilty of it but they’re guilty of overhyping most things. It’s more that until we know more about this strain then it is sensible to put some minor restrictions in (mask wearing and proof of vaccine is fuck all really) while we wait for more and more accurate data. It’s better than doing what we did first time around by doing fuck all until it was way too late and having to shut the country down.On the 15th September, we were effectively back to normal with no restrictions at all and the UK recorded 201 covid deaths.
