I don’t think you can get immune to it to be honest.
My Mrs had it in October and currently has it again.
She’s triple vaxxed but has still been rough both times. I’m struggling to see the point of vaccines, knowing two people who have had it and not been as ill as the mrs.
I’m still fully vaxxed myself as I’m erring on the side of caution, I currently have Covid but luckily not too rough with it.

To be honest mate if I'd had it twice while vaxxed and was bad both times I'd definitely be keeping up with any vaccines I'd be offered because you wouldn't want to go in bareback.

I didn’t actually. I said that the unvaccinated are the most vulnerable and they are. Especially true when you when you compare two otherwise near identical people whether that be 2 healthy 16 year olds or 2 unhealthy 65 year olds. Whoever isn’t vaccinated is more vulnerable than their comparable vaccinated and therefore by default the most vulnerable. It’s not a difficult concept.

Nobody is saying there will be zero hospitalisations. Its simple maths, lower percentage hospitalised but increased transmission can still lead to increased hospitalisations overall.

Boosters are based on something that has been scientifically researched and tested and given in a measured dose. Its much less of an unknown that relying on immunity from prior infection. There's a lag of infections > hospitalisations > icu > deaths. We can't just decide to make it a free for all now and if things get worse revenuers the decision, by the time we know we're screwed it would be too late. Better to be slow and steady and not risk getting ourselves into a very dangerous position.

Frankly the data is all that matters, real world experience will always pick up the exceptions.

Funny that the real world experience of vaccines stopping my Mum from catching Covid are ignored however, or stopping my friend from ending up in hospital, unlike his brother-in-law pre-vaccine days (but hey, he didn't die so doesn't count). Let's hope vaccines help chiefdave's Dad, too, that's what matters in the real world.

Can you explain how locking away obese people would help the NHS?

64% of the population is overweight and its far from an equal spread among all demographics. Do you think it would help the NHS to lose a big percentage of their employees as they'd been 'locked away'?

Unlike covid positive people this wouldn't be them isolating for a few days, even if they have the will and ability to lose weight you'd be locking people down for months or years? Whose paying the benefits bill that covers that?

Earlier access to the vaccine may have saved his life but not being obese at 18, and the knock on effects that has on the body, would have also significantly improved his chances of both surviving Covid as well as the plethora of health issues he would likely have had in later life without significant lifestyle changes.
We don't seem to be learning anything from this pandemic in terms of boosting natural health and immunity, it's all about the drugs. Loved the video that Nick posted promoting what you can do to help yourself but it barely got a reaction here and whenever obesity is mentioned it often gets glossed over, I suspect because it's a topic that people don't want to look in the mirror and face.

Quite happy to admit I fall into that category and as said before I haven’t known a time where I wasn’t overweight.

At the same time, I’ve never smoked and rarely drink. There is some irony in telling the ‘fatties’ to stay inside and then telling them also to exercise more.
