I can’t see ya hitting 100k tests a day as it goes on day by day they look even more out of their depthYou optimistic we’ll hit 100k tests a day by the end of the month? it’s a big target to set themselves which will somewhat backfire horribly if not reached

Surely they are anti-social pliers aren't they?Maybe we should get some social pliers for the lockdown violators
How is that showing the 1,300 recorded deaths on France today?
If all the numbers are incorrect, what's the point in posting that graph you keep repeating?
Not having a go, just a genuine question.

And there's far too much of that on here at times.Read the title. It’s a 7 day rolling average to smooth out noise.
We need to finish this league. Next season may be lost already. Who knows. But we need this season to be completed.I would be beyond amazed if another ball is kicked this season, really not
Convinced next season will kick off when it should either.
Because 11 months ago I went from my permanent contract of 9 years to a fixed term 12 month contract covering my old bosses maternity leave. Technically I've just come to the end of that contract and they're not renewing. Why don't you get redundancy?
As above mate. I was but then took a mat cover promotion for 12 months on a fixed term contract. I had the option to go back to my old role but had done it for 4 yrs and thought that this 12 month mat cover would open other doors. It has done for everyone else who has done a mat cover in my company in the last 10 yrs.All the best weeman. Were you not permanent in the job there?

Unless anyone knows differently. Employment law not my strong point...

If you’re on a fixed-term contractI've no idea about employment law but it would be worth consulting someone about it. You never know.
Thanks Sam. Is this your area of expertise? If you’re on a fixed-term contract
You will be entitled to statutory redundancy pay if your employer doesn’t renew your fixed-term contract because the job doesn’t exist any more and you had either:
- a fixed-term contract for 2 years or more
- shorter contracts that followed on from each other and added up to 2 years or more
And if you are entitled to statutory, you should also be entitled to company
so 10 years work at statutory = 10 weeks pay up to £525 per week (tax free)
Nah people will just go oh well another thing said that didn’t happen. Where’s the explanation of why they didn’t do the last two aims on tests and the apologies for leaving the nhs staff without equipment or testing. It’s bizarreYou optimistic we’ll hit 100k tests a day by the end of the month? it’s a big target to set themselves which will somewhat backfire horribly if not reached
it is not directly - I am an accountant, but have managed and had to make a couple of teams redundant over my career, so have some knowledgeThanks Sam. Is this your area of expertise?

Unfortunately for me, mine coincided with a world stopping pandemic.
Poor luck I guess. I guess I could've say no to them permanently filling my old role but I obviously couldn't foresee this.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing and all that....

Given that the media is just reporting what healthcare professionals all around the country are telling them then no, I don’t think it’s media scaremongering. Don’t shoot the messenger and all that.Has it not occured to anyone that this is media scaremongering to get everyone a bit shouty?
If you are with the same employer, then you will have 10 years of unbroken service.Because 11 months ago I went from my permanent contract of 9 years to a fixed term 12 month contract covering my old bosses maternity leave. Already had some good advice privately from 3 forum members this morning which has put me in a more positive frame of mind. Going to start a thread on that at some point as this place truly can be a great place.Deffo look into it before you just walk away without it!
Would have thought as you have been at the company for so long you would be entitled, the change of job is not much different to somebody being promoted or moved about within the company is it?
Spoke to my good friend who works at UHCW again yesterday. Daughters mother also works at George Elliot.
Capacity is fine as it stands and PPE is also fine across the board.
Has it not occured to anyone that this is media scaremongering to get everyone a bit shouty? I'm not saying there isn't a shortage on some places but the media rhetoric of 'oh my god they are having to treat patients wearing a quiche for protection' gets clicks. Adequate PPE doesnt
Granted London is probably a shit show due to population, but it seems (as it stands) the trusts in the midlands at least have got thier act together.

Let's do this...

Hiya. No, I wasnt seconded. I applied for the mat cover as it was in my area of expertise (my old bosses role) and did receive a pay rise. I was given the option of leaving my old role open but I had done it for 4yrs and wanted the change so I told them they could fill it permanently instead of just for 12 months so I could just walk back into it after my old boss returned from her maternity leave. If you are with the same employer, then you will have 10 years of unbroken service.
Would I be correct in assuming that you were seconded to cover the maternity post on a temporary contract basis at an enhancement on your previous pay? If so, then your original post or one at the same level should be available for you to revert to.
If that post has disappeared then the company will need to revert to a consultation process and issue you with an "at risk" letter.
Ultimately, if there is no position available for you, then they would have to pay you redundancy.
