I think there are a lot of Mps who get promoted due to great work in constituencies but aren't up to ministerial/shadow ministerial posts.

Promoted a level too far happens to individuals in many companies and professions.

The Peter Principle.

I don’t think that’s it with Corbyn and the rest of the SCG. I just think campaigning and activism are very different tasks to electioneering and leading a diverse organisation.

Blair has been demonised (and I’m not getting involved in the rights and wrongs) but he was better & more effective than Corbyn and everyone since could ever hope to be. That I’m sure is going to elicit howls of dissent but it’s a fact.

I do - but I put that down to what I perceive as the qualities for good leadership.

Nah, the rot began with trying to force high immigration down British people’s throats culminating in Browns “bigoted woman” gaff. The expenses scandal solidified us as “all the same”.

That’s when Labour started losing its base and we can’t win without them.

The final nail in the coffin has been try e weaponisation of conspiracy theory by the right and the gaming of social media algorithms. Before we used to agree there was an issue but disagree how to solve it, now the right disagrees there’s even an issue.

Thanks. Full respect to your girlfriend, I genuinely wasn’t aware it was common knowledge that she’s a midwife. I have a sister-in-law who’s also a midwife at Frimley Park and we’re all concerned for her too. She’s dedicated and incredibly hard working but just like you and yours, she’s self-effacing and right now would never describe herself as frontline given the heartbreaking battle going on in ICU.

It makes no difference the truth is that is the same as Boris Johnson campaigning for Thomas Maer - he should have been reminded just for that. He was never ever going to win an election and Blair with the war as his legacy would still have done better

Well one person says that. My point about Ireland is it’s a very different country to England. It’s more similar to Sweden and is running at the same death rate per population despite a very different approach

They both had their first recorded death on the same day but other than that you’re not nearly correct. Sweden has almost double the population of Ireland yet almost three times as many deaths. The opposite of what you say is true. If anything it’s definitive proof that Sweden’s approach failed, given that both Ireland and Sweden should be on the same curve.

This doesn't seem good, only 1% of applications to the governments emergency loan scheme have been processed according to the Sunday Times.

The government’s loans scheme for coronavirus-struck businesses has been criticised by a former governor of the Bank of England, as the government admitted that just 1 per cent of applications have been processed so far.

Lord King, who was head of the bank during the 2008 financial crash, said it was clear “something has gone wrong” with the scheme.

Just 4,200 loans have gone out to businesses in the three weeks that the scheme has been running, the business secretary Alok Sharma said this morning. There are estimated to have been 300,000 applications so far.

“I am worried about it because the economy will recover quickly only if we can keep the businesses that existed and the beginning of it still functioning,”
