Personal debt harms the economy in the long run. Billions are lost to interest payments that could be used to purchase items. But to make up for this more loans are needed to make purchases...... It is the banks/credit card providers/loan providers that do well out of this. The rich are mainly Tories. So debt is good for them.Personal debt? It is the very opposite of incurring more personal debt.
It's people stopping spending money.
I'll repeat this again the paradox of thrift is not an economic theory you implement it is something that governments have to try and counter.

Company cash reserves are just like personal cash reserves. Every company will be different. But shareholders love their dividends. A big part of what keeps the share prices up.What does huge cash reserves mean- that needs context- huge as in a lot of money compared to what most people have in the bank, or enough to cover costs for, say, 3 months?
Rubbish comparison really. France would be better
We sure are. Looks like my younger kids will be back at school in about 4 weeks. Could well be over 4 months here. We’re doing worse than them too
To think it’s only a month since The Cheltenham Festival.
In what way?Rubbish comparison really. France would be better
Isn’t that where Hill thinks he got it (assuming it was “it” and not seasonal flu).To think it’s only a month since The Cheltenham Festival.
The health of the stock market and the economic health of most Americans are not the same, he should be glad he is up against a dementia patient rather than the dude calling for a 2k UBI
Minister for Deflection and Whataboutery? So what would you do?
Minister for Deflection and Whataboutery?

I'm not sure what metrics you're using to come to that conclusion.....France have more deaths, more cases, more critical cases & less testing.....
....I'd say were both doing pretty shit....but France are marginally shitter....
We don’t have fewer deaths, France counts care homes and we don’t. On an even measure we’re ahead of them.
Yes, I've just read that they've included care home figures....BUT only since 5th April...but they do have thousands more critical cases in hospitals & less testing....so in order to not split any more hairs, lets agree both countries are not doing a very good job
I still think it’s far too early to rank countries TBF. Lots of analysis to be done once it’s all over and extra waves are done.
Is that data there for usYes, I've just read that they've included care home figures....BUT only since 5th April...but they do have thousands more critical cases in hospitals & less testing....so in order to not split any more hairs, lets agree both countries are not doing a very good job

IE critical cases?
The article explains the reasons why UK and Ireland are very similar - islands, similar underfunded NHS funding systems similar ICU spaces etc.Oh agree totally.....I was just backing Maccas claim that a better comparison for the UK would be France as opposed to Ireland

The big difference is the cases and deaths have started reducing in France. And Macron has admitted that they could have handled the situation much better. Can you see Boris making such an admission? We are still not being strict enough.I'm not sure what metrics you're using to come to that conclusion.....France have more deaths, more cases, more critical cases & less testing.....

I just got it from the site below wingy.....France over 6.5K vs. UK at around 1.5K critical cases
Coronavirus Update (Live): 2,008,251 Cases and 127,168 Deaths from COVID-19 Virus Pandemic - Worldometer

In Holland they're all 'hairdressers' I'm told. Ask where you can buy drugs and you'll be directed to the nearest hair salon. The local poilce are apparently 'oblivious' to this activity which has earned them a lot of derision.
Are you saying Macron has admitted that they could have handled the situation much better so people will suddenly like him?He made the admission as before this virus his popularity was through the floor - let’s not kid ourselves here this virus and the ensuing all in together spirit is helping save his neck
Yeah. Have you seen the amount of barbers down FGS? That's a lot of men needing a haircut in such a small area.....
Maybe it isn't such a small area that needs trimming as they get more than the hair on their head trimmed.Yeah. Have you seen the amount of barbers down FGS? That's a lot of men needing a haircut in such a small area.....
back in work today. Got an e-mail yesterday to say I've been taken off furlough.
This contradicts the original furlough guidelines I was given but apparently they've changed so as far as works concerned I'm expecting to be in out like a violinists elbow for the next few weeks.
I want G for our next PM. Otherwise we will struggle to find a replacement for Boris.But,but..... G said the furlough scheme was absolutely crystal clear in the guidelines and couldn't/wouldn't be changed.....
Tory constituency and surrounds impacted by flooding require economic shot in the arm.To think it’s only a month since The Cheltenham Festival.
Hehe.Maybe it isn't such a small area that needs trimming as they get more than the hair on their head trimmed.
