Disappointing but not end of world. If we beat QPR everything is fine let's be honest

Still we need to stop patching ourselves out and giving game away. Who lost ball in first seconds for their counter? Allen Eccles or rudoni? It's just too easy.

Strongest team week in week out now till end of season I assume.
It was Allen.

Little bit disappointed that Lampard thinks we were the better side & is pinning it purely on individual mistakes & nothing at all to do with his crazy tactics or team selection.

Think he usually speaks very well but this a bit a delusional.

LAMPARD - IT WAS AN OK PERFORMANCE

“I think we probably edged the possession, and chances, maybe we edged it overall. They had better chances that were predominantly from errors and mistakes from us, which is disappointing. Other than that, I don’t think the scoreline really reflects the game. It’s just a reality for us and that’s how I see it.

“It was a competitive game and if you take the goals out of it, which we can’t, obviously, but you look at the game and there was some good stuff from us. The way we came out in the second half and kept pushing. Maybe had we got our goal, which was disallowed.

“There were a couple of defensive errors but other than that it’s probably the clinical nature of them at the top end of the pitch compared to us is a bit different. But other than that there’s not so much I can complain about really.

“They’re are a team who were really strong in the league last year and are now competing in the Prem but I didn’t see that difference in the game, personally, other than the scoreline. Again, I am not stupid and that’s the reality of it but big parts of the game I think we can go, yes, we must take that forward positively.

“We must, as always, look at the errors because some of them I really don’t like, but it’s what it is.”

More possession believe it or not, I can't for the life of me believe we had more chances.

Look if we're honest the last 2 games just show how far off the level we are

It's all well and good Doug saying about the 3 play offs in 5 years plan (which btw is 3 in 3 from next season), and he's doing his best, but we are nowhere near the level required to get out of this league

Are we a decent side? Yes. Are we good enough to go up even if we make play offs? Absolutely not, we would get eaten alive every week

Only 2 ways you get out of the Championship, a once in a generation season (Ipswich, Blackpool, Hull, Luton and ALMOST us)

Or you have Parachute money / silly amounts of money Wolves promotion season style.

The longer it goes on the more it seems the PO Final was THE chance, and we didn't take it

Don't get me wrong, it can be done, look at Sunderland this season, flying. But that is more the exception than the norm

I hear what you're saying, but Brentford is a name you didn't mention and it feels like that's the closest comparison to what we're trying to do. It took them a few seasons to build and go up and they stuck. We might f*ck the whole thing up, but I don't think it's hopeless. Just really f*cking tough.

From our own halfway line we are playing with 2 centre halves on the HW line with another acting as a holding midfielder and the 2 fullbacks sat inverted almost

Way too high to play against teams like this and we get left short on the counter alot

I can sort of see that, but in reality it looked like Thomas was man marking Clarke, so being dragged all over the place, Lati was tucking in the cover and therefore leaving acres of space down our right/their left which is where we kept being overloaded.

Where as JDS seemed to be playing more of a traditional WB role on the other side.

And all very high as you say, thankfully Hirst didn’t have the legs to exploit it.

Strange set up.

The only problem here is Kings 3 play offs in 5 years nonsense.
More King shooting from the hip and making a rod for everyone's back.
Back in the real world were doing OK and just maybe might grab a 5th or 6th place and who knows where that takes you?

Lads what do you think Lampard is going to say to the press? Oh the lads were shite and fuck me lati makes a living as a footballer? No, he will defend them in public and hammer them in private. It's what managers do

It's clear things are still slightly volatile regarding the manager situation. The wins held a few off but the ease at which many in the fan base can still turn is evident and absolutely any excuse to stick the boot in.

Struck me how many streamed to the exits at 1-4. Pretty sure it wasn’t always like that?

Watching the highlights - how our “2nd” goal was disallowed is beyond me. Gutting - different game if that’s allowed. And I think Dovin is too passive and not quick to close down for their 4th - disappointing.

Stayed in the bar downstairs today for the first time ever. It was the first game I have not watched this season. Disgusted with not wearing sky blue at home and even more horrified at the cartoon badge on the shirt. That was not my team that lost today. Let’s hope the ‘sky blue’ army can drive us to a victory on Tuesday. Play Up ‘Sky Blues’

We won’t be seeing much of Dasilva, Binks and Eccles again after today..
Hopefully EMC, Haji and Sheaf back by next weekend.

Saka has been awful
He’s not the same player we signed since his injury. Seems very afraid to take players on and his goal production has dried up as well. Granted he’s being used more as an impact sub but there’s been little impact.

I hope I do not come off bitter when I say I was not impressed with Ipswich at all and we gifted three of the four goals to them via braindead errors.

First from Allen, second no specific error but we let him inside very easily (and that is literally all Jack Clarke does, well, besides falling down), and third and fourth were terrible passes out by Binks and Lati (I've not looked back, this is from memory so please correct me where applicable).

Overall, not too fussed about going out of the FA Cup and losing to Leeds. Beat QPR and the good feeling is back. With Grimes hopefully getting up to speed, a much needed rest for MvE, and the imminent return of EMC, Wright and Sheaf, and this could be a really interesting and, hopefully, exciting end to the season.

I tend to agree - I didn’t think Ipswich were all that - we made it too easy for them.
That’s what disappointed me the most - we didn’t, in footballing terms, say to them ‘come on then we’re at home, show us why you’re premier league and think you can make 11 changes against us’
We sort of gifted it to them. Pisses me right off. Same with Leeds the other night.
