As expected, nothing between us on the day. 1st half was ours, 2nd half yours, probably fairly even in ET.

Horrible way to decide a game of football, fair play to every penalty taker- takes balls.

Every Cov fan I met today was class, before and after the game. For those not back yet, have a safe journey, best wishes for next season.

What chances did we have today? Everything just went high and wide no?

Yeah I called pens a while ago, two of the best defences in the division. Like your club and the fans I’ve met, like your manager. Fucking hate your football mind. Still, great stuff for the game that there’s a new PL team, and I hope it goes a long way to securing your club for the foreseeable future.

Do you reckon you’ll keep doing what you’re doing or do a Forest and go for a wholesale change? I can’t see you getting far playing the way you have this season.

Just back. Congratulations to Luton! Cannot fault the boys’ effort, just feel for Dabo, hearing him being crucified on a 5 hour coach journey home wasnt nice

Real shame to likely end your City career like that. Well always have L1 Dabo. Feels like an end of an era with no Vik, Gus, Kelly, Dabo next season. Cant wait to see who the next cult heroes are. Still hoping for an OHare Palmer double act next year mind.

I’d be very surprised if there were wholesale changes. That isn’t the way we have done things at any stage during our rise up the leagues and I don’t see that changing now. Even when we got to the championship our board were very clear about not tearing up the financial model, and continuing to operate sustainably.

To be fair, our football only saw us lose 8 times all season- well, 9 if you include the 1st leg semi defeat. When we first got up to the C’Ship, I think most of us would have taken 4th from bottom, such is the step up. We narrowly avoided relegation that first season and kicked on from there. We use the tools we have at our disposal, with our recruitment model based on attitude and work rate as much as ability. The lad who scored our goal today, Jordan Clark, was signed on a free after his contract expired at Accrington Stanley. Elijah Adebayo came from Walsall for £250k. Are we ever going to out “pretty” teams? Probably not, but we will often want it more….Not including Cov in that by the way, you were very much the stronger side in the 2nd half today and your players commitment to the cause is unquestionable. Towards the end of the game, it was like two boxers standing and trading blows!

Realistically though, whilst we will of course celebrate today’s achievement and won’t worry about next season right now, I think most of us are pragmatic enough to view it as a means to funding the new stadium. With that project secured, we can then come back down in a much stronger position to have another go with a much more competitive financial footing. As you mentioned, it’s about securing the future of the club, even if the coming season is likely to be a tough watch.

Anyway, how good can Haaland and his pals actually be?……Over rated if you ask me….

Yeah I ask because the debate has been had on here too. And TBF was had when we came up, it’s just the Prem is a whole other jump compared to L1 to the Champ.

I just really hate your football 🤣 I’m not sure in 2023 you can do the old Wimbledon style stuff. Though that said you got it past apparently the best Prem ref today so maybe you’ll be alright. I suspect you’ll find in the Prem it’s a lot harder to bully players as they’re all strong and quick. But whatever you do I hope you stay up.

I'm happy if we just take the cash and run. We need the Pier Court stadium more than top flight football

Cheers. Enjoy the ride in the Premier.

Yeah , our goal was a perfect example of route one, eh?
Both goals were very good goals to be fair.

I don't like the route one stuff either, but for you, it works. Hit it up to the big guy for knock downs for the rest to feed off.

You are a fast team and strong and efficient. It worked.

Do you think you will keep that same style in the Premier League?

Honestly , I've no idea. It's possible. Our new stadium is a bigger priority than. staying up, our owners , 2020, refuse to go down the same debt route that nearly destroyed us, they won't even take on gambling sponsorship.
Strangely , this ' style' of ours accumulated 80 points. Only Burnley lost fewer games , and only Burnley had fewer goals scored against them. I'm not sure how route 1 makes our defence so good.
I'd guess we'll play to our strengths , get relegated and settle down to go up with a state of the arts stadium

Your defence is very strong I would say. I think Bell is a very good player indeed.

Yeah, I get that it's not all route one, but it is a lot of quick, long balls up to the forwards and down the channels to get round the back of defences.

As I say, it has worked hasn't it. You were pretty much up there all season weren't you

You could have easily been 3 nil up in that first half.

You have quick forwards and for us, our defence is a little bit slow. McFadzean and Doyle aren't quick.

It's odd. Man City can score a goal with three passes and it's brilliant. We do it and it's goofball.
What we did was a legacy of Nathan Jones, Rob Edwards came in and smartly realised that dismantling a system the players were familiar with would be counter productive. It's proved a wise decision.
Next season it'll be ' all his own work'. As a football club we e always played decent stuff, especially this season. It's only the teams we've beaten that think they're bigger than that whined about our ' style'.
Look at the final table and you'll see that goofball hasn't got us many goals, but as a unit we are as one.
