Wish it was me. It's just the sad demise of the club. Hardly see a single soul in a few rows in block 20.
It used to be packed in those two blocks for the first 5 years of the Ricoh. I switched my ST seat to try and keep closer to the atmosphere, plus I had my young daughter with me at matches then. I nomadically went from Block 23 to Block 29 to Block 17, finally refused to buy an ST in 2012 { Still went though most games } then the hedge fund cretins really broke the habit with Northampton and then after that my attendance slowly declined until a spike under Mowbray and when I could get a good seat for £18.

it did shock me seeing so many people leave at 85 minutes when we were pushing for a winner. Its not like there is even a crowd to get a head start on.

Don't think I've ever left a game early. Can understand people who do when we're winning easily or getting hammered but why would you leave when its level.

The game was poor, the atmosphere was poor, in fact we all said we should have stayed in the pub.And how about the away support or lack of it ? Pathetic. I hear a fair few fans go to the Butts to watch the winning rugby team. It is tempting, but I'd probably feel disloyal going even though it is my home town club.
This is me, rattles - I've done just that. My second season of boycotting home fixture because of our shite owners. I attend a handful of away games only, mostly but not entirely grounds which I've not visited before.
I genuinely like the game so getting a season tkt up at BPA wasn't a big deal - I still need my regular fix of weekend sport and crucially it has to be supporting my home town club. You're absolutely right about the 'mutiny' - I know a few people who were City regulars as well as recognising a few faces, coupled to that, people who I know point out in the stands others that have changed codes.
I haven't had a season ticket (City) since 2002/03 - owing to work shift patterns. It's got even worse now with 1 out of every 3 weeks that would allow me to attend midweek fixtures. Given the amount of games at this level that occur midweek it just doesn't make money saving sense for me. That said, if and when the scumbags leave/sell up, I'm straight back in with a season ticket. 100%. Of course I can't comment for everybody but I'd like to think the majority of us are just staying away, we haven't gone away.

I left in the 94th minute I think. It was about 3 and half mins into added time. We were pushing and then they won a silly free kick in our half and I thought to myself, I can't sit here and watch Crawley amble up and take 2 and a half minutes to take this free kick, so I left.

Not going to games is a pretty simple equation for me. I do have my own team, but like this weekend when the game got called off on Friday night, I thought about going for all of about 5 seconds. My mind was telling me yes, but my wallet was telling me no.

I can go and watch and not be bothered about the league, how we are playing, SISU, or anything like that. It's simply the cost. I have a small fund for entertainment each month due to paying off the end of the wedding and finalising a deposit for a mortgage. £25 odd quid, even with minimal extras on top of that is an absolute shambles.

I think if it had been £20 or less you would have seen me at the Ricoh around 5 times this season (that's all the games I would have been able to go to). That's 5 times the cost has put me off this year. How many times has it put others off too?

after FGR game i vowed not go again for at least a month, didnt stick to it but the breaks between games are getting longer

that said it will ramp up in march if we are still top 7 imo and games become bigger

Unfortunatly yes I suppose they couldnt give them away so waited outside the ticket office for a few potg suckers like me to sell them too.
I saved 15 quid so great.

Cheeky bastards. Should have just let you have it for free if they didn't pay for it.

Have done it a few times, did it last year with the jsb vouchers. Just gave them to random people with kids in the cash queue.

Bollocks to charging for them.

Still unbeaten I see. What's the atmosphere like at the Butts ? Is it clicky though as the regulars may say " he's a new one, or another bloody football fan. " Then again when I went now and again to Coundon Road nobody bothered you.

Is the entire ground open for every game?
Would make sense to close swathes of it and then you've got a chance of an atmosphere.
May attract a few more punters.

No, the end behind one goal is closed and the other end is the away end. That leaves one stand and then the main stand which is mostly corporate, press etc.

That's what I used to do give them away when I used to get them for my lads footie team

Both ends are pretty much closed, as are two corners, but that's still 6k people rattling round in 18k or so of seating.

It's funny reading this because it reminds me of all the good things that seeing City used to mean - meet up with mates, drink before the game, often bump into people you know, even if the game wasn't great a bit of banter in the crowd, what I now realise (having seeing Div 4 games) was a decent standard of football, seeing players develop over time, seeing England internationals even if they were playing for the opposition! But on Saturday I couldn't persuade any else to go so went on my own, no banter or atmosphere, really poor football and a lot of other things I could have done for the same amount of money. I can see lots of different reasons why people no longer bother and precious few reasons to persuade people to keep going

Historically the income per head has been between £10 and £12 (this accounts for excluding VAT, free and discount tickets, season tickets and walk up full cost etc). I was told from a reliable source that this season the club has budgeted on crowds being an average of 9000. So say as an estimate, due to the price hike, the income per head budgeted for CCFC is £11

Currently CCFC average home gate in the league is 7650 that would mean total income has been less than budget by around £148,500 for the 10 matches so far . For CCFC to hit an average of 9000 attendance for the season the remaining games of the season crowds will need to be 10,050 for each of the next 13 home league games. Every game below that 10050 then the average needed to hit budget increases as does the budget deficit.

The £148500 excludes the potential for losses on the 4 cup games so far which in total brought in 12,139 fans

Home attendances stay at around 7650 for the season and income will be £340K below budget

or higher than that £340K once you add in the cup games into the required average gate. Once you add that we may have gone over budget as well signing Andreu (bit of speculation from me, there) then the £750k shortfall doesn't seem too unrealistic.

That price hike will prove to be a huge mistake ! I don't care about average prices for the League, Coventry City are a basket case under these owners and extra efforts have to be made to attract fans back. Every £10-15 bum on seat minus taxes is still better than no bum on seat !

And on another note, we all know what will happen if there is a budget deficit come January !

What's that? People who don't go to games will be going ape shit if a player gets sold thinking it's specific to us?

What do you think the crowds would be if it was £15 a ticket?

I think if we’d had that Saturday it would still be less than 7,000

What's more alarming is we were recently speaking to Boddy and he is happy with the ticket model/prices etc. Says it will continue into next season too.
Think he said it on the radio too-an own goal if ever there was one!

But I think Grendel is right, above. If it was cheaper, those paying more now would obviously pay less and still turn up, meaning the club got less revenue. Meanwhile, very few extra fans would be attracted, meaning little extra revenue....so overall, the club would be out of pocket. That's why Boddy says he is happy with it at the current level - it's probably at the optimal revenue point on the demand curve i.e. the pricing which guarantees most £££ regardless of turnout.

Sorry yes I get that argument now. Trying to multitask is confusing me. Still, that was/is only based on a minimal increase in numbers !

Yep. My earphones must be too loud and my tartan rug too displeasing to the eye.

Do think we ought to have one game where a lot of us on here should all turn up and visit you in Block 20 (Otis). You can then have a guess at who is who on a thread after the game !
