When they have missed the point, it's fair to point out they have missed the point. To consider people not well-rounded for doing something based on their life experience is to perpetuate the problem, that doesn't fix easily, and certainly doesn't unless all perspectives are understood.It's a favourite attic here, ignored what is being argued or subvert it, and then say you've missed the point. It's very boring.
