He should have a Michelin chef and an advisor - I’m not even joking the U.K. needs to get out of this 1970’s view of its leaders

David Cameron was fine eating sardines on toast, does boarding at Eton not teach you a few life skills?

The correlation between children starving is emotional guff

The PM gets 800 quids worth of takeaways delivered every week, doesn't even lay for some of it. Meanwhile refuses to feed starving kids.

Grendel: 'the PM isn't paid enough'

There are many on this board whose views I completely disagree with but I am sure they are decent people. Not Grendel. Genuinely a nasty, bitter old man who is happy to pull up the ladder and see those beneath him struggle, ideally while a toff gets free takeaways for life.

It’s absurd he has to dodge rules on ordering food. In most western countries he’d have a far far better residence and many are paid a lot more and also have their own private chefs paid for.

It’s symptomatic of a wider issue that the leader of the country is underpaid and undervalued compared to many of his peers

Oh dear lord, how will he cope on his *checks notes* £160,000 per year salary (plus expenses)?

Cringe. Politician fanboys are creepy. This is worse than those Corbyn poems.

No I’m pointing out a basic fact that the Prime Minister - who is our head of state - is paid significantly less than his counterparts across the West and many have gyms saunas cinemas and personal chefs as part of the deal

Yesterday you were droning on about India - why don’t the Indian government purchase equipment rather than get it for free

I’m certainly not bitter it’s you that has some Wolfie Smith tub thumping idea of how the world is run. You actually come across as some bloke in his eighties whose “voted Labour all me life”

Says it all that you're more concerned that he doesn't get a gym and sauna than about the rampant corruption. Fucking hell.

And I'm 31 and I've voted Labour once in my life.

The Queen is not a decision maker and does not represent the country in any talks with other world leaders - our PM is exactly the same status as Merkle macron and Biden. She is a figurehead the same as all other Eu countries with royalty though it is worth noting I believe that the French PM also is paid more than ours even though it’s a far less important role

Johnson runs the country and if you undervalue the job who limit the talent pool who wants it

You’re just objectively wrong to say the PM is the head of state when he isn’t. We pay the royal family very well indeed and put them up in fabulous privilege for the ceremonial role they serve. Macron and Biden are elected executive heads of state unlike Johnson

I’m talking in relative terms of responsibility - Johnson has all the powers and responsibility that they have.

His role should be paid a lot more, MPs generally are underpaid

We all know you have a sixth form approach to the monarchy but she isn’t attending g7 summits she’s opening a fete in Hastings

Hardly surprising that Grendel would take a firm line on takeaways, the guy’s moobs alone must be two of the largest Tory constituencies in the country.

When the costs of the monarchy factor in security they require a 9 figure sum to maintain. Bin them off and Boris can have all the Michelin star chefs and Grendel fluffers he can shake a small stick at

The queens role is entirely unique and as a result most acknowledge she is superb and the best in the world at what she does

She is the head of state though-do you accept being completely wrong on that one?

Anyone can shake hands and eat banquets in a palace. Only a complete and utter fool like Charles could screw it up

G what do you feel is an appropriate salary for an MP aid you consider them underpaid.

Secondly does that mean you believe your favourite MP Zarah Sultana should be paid more?

They have executive authority to sign off on legislation, he does not. Biden is also commander of the armed forces, again Johnson doesn't have that authority.

nonsense the Queen always will obey the government of the day as the day she doesn’t is the day the monarchy ends

Heard the argument that they’re underpaid numerous times, and whilst on the face of it it’s correct, because of their expenses claims they actually get far more than their salary (ignoring the top-ups for ministerial positions). £80k per year AFTER all work-related costs (travel, accommodation, food, phones, etc.) ain’t a bad gig at all.

In fact, may have just talked myself into a career change.

You know full well in terms of political state comparisons it’s the PM - Biden wouldn’t call the Queen he calls Johnson

Randomly you seem to be saying he should be paid loads more and live in the palace and enjoy the trappings of a monarch in a republican state

Mirror story about money to the very wealthy over the last year makes you weep. We really do need an alternative vision of a more just and fair future

Just went looking for this and stumbled upon another gem...

‘Priti Patel says ministers breaking rules not important as they’re doing “difficult jobs, actually”.’

Yep just representing a person who’s been dismissed for accessing computer details. Pretty sure if he was more senior or a member of the front bench he’d be told forget about it it will all blow over.

The point is they are the voice into parliament which runs the country so clearly a 6 figure salary with benefits and fixed salaries to employ staff office space etc

Obviously yes with Sultana as she is in the job. I’ve said before face to face she and Robinson’s replacement are pleasant and earnest enough but she needs to get away from this utter Corbynist nonsense

The more you pay people the irony is the less inherent wealth people will be elected as you’d get people from top business jobs who otherwise will not take a pay cut and live away from home for weeks on end
