In fact, it's about not enforcing the view of another, outside of parenthood. Approbation and correction to behave in a binary way is damaging. I know.

I think you raise a valid point of discussion regards your latter point. I'd have to think on that. I think my first reaction is that teachers do indeed have a safeguarding issue, and that sharing a child's admission with a parent could have very serious consequences.

Thats not a teachers call to make as any teacher will tell you. Literally rule 1 of every safeguarding session I’ve attended: don’t promise you can keep secrets.

We simply don’t know enough about this topic to make that decision. We don’t know why there’s a sudden rise in teenage transition in girls, we don’t know what evidence exists gender identity is a real thing it what causes dysphoria and how permanent it is. This sort of thing can be a signifier of abuse, it can be a fleeting thought, it can be a misunderstanding and playing into it can have consequences we don’t understand.

Would you be OK with the school supporting anorexia if the child feels they are fat? After all kid knows best. What about suicide if they feel there’s no point? Kid knows best.

It’s obviously not that simple and while it sounds nice to say, it’s not a sensible position. Kids aren’t adults and we don’t treat them as such for a reason.

Moreover you’re talking about an ideology the majority don’t believe in and for which there is scant evidence. It’s simply not the states place to teach that sort of stuff. This is closer to religion than science right now. There’s no democratic or scientific mandate for putting it in the curriculum.

I note dubed has stepped out of this convo and I’m genuinely sorry to see that, their voice would be valuable but like hill in the racism thread I totally get that they’ve better things to do than have this debate. I was just asking for clarification. Though I might point to the stats on attacks on various groups I’d rather not play oppression olympics at all TBH.

To be clear, I’d genuinely like to hear your thoughts on this. I’ve asked several good faith questions with that aim. I get evo is being a bit of a prick, and it’s not the best forum for that though.

But equally, your experience isn’t the only one that’s valid. Other people exist with their own life experiences and their own stakes in this debate.
