Well she performed very well this morning
Ridiculous
Ok, so just 500 perhaps?
I personally think that Brexits protraction coupled to a rare Winter election didn't help as a more established in situ govt would have been more alert /reactive to the impending onslaught.I think quite some grace was given to them for being slow off the mark on the first round, and I have no confidence whatsoever that a government of different colour might have done things differently. I think the second event crept up on even the experts but then, when it had hit all it the face, Boris decided to sacrifice bodies rather than be accused of cancelling Christmas. This time round they are firmly in receipt of the advice in a timey way but it's clear that they are set on a course that protects the economy above the widespread impact it will have on health. I do think that if this turns out badly they will be significantly damaged.
20,000 went to a game of football yesterday. Why don’t you go and guilt trip everyone who went rather than someone who wants 40 people at a wedding?
I think I was challenging what appeared to me to be somewhat contradictory, or perhaps more fairly, contrasting positions, that the government wouldn't be blamed for 'another fuck up' whilst at the same time you would be quite relaxed about that given your plans. Let's just move on
I am talking about in 2 months time, at an event where every adult has been vaccinated and a large % double jabbed. You then make a sarcie comment about 'how many are you happy to die'. Real prick move that mate. Maybe come over here and try guilt tripping the missus for wanting it as well?
Bit of an over reaction

Hardly. If the reply to 'I would like to have a small wedding' is 'Are you OK with 1,000 deaths' that's just being a prick.
It's been OK for me to be in classrooms all this time
With UBI, it’s an interesting idea.
I’d like to see more trials on a larger scale, but if you could cut all bureaucracy of means tested benefits and replace all other benefits with UBI... Maybe it could be a good and popular policy.
I think you over-reacting a wee bit, but then you do have a tendency to that.
Tell you what, just to show my support, send me an invite.
If there were space I would.

You can't say what you said and not be prepared to get backlash from it. It was another 'variant' of 'you're killing granny'.
The people that want to push everyone into their way of thinking regarding stricter restrictions behave the worst.
Oh don't be silly, I've explained I was pointing out the contradiction in the posts.
Away with you.

On this occasion I'll let you off, but in fairness to Brighton, he has said a lot on here about how hard it's been for his family, especially being teachers and all that. I'm not begging for an invite, but surely we all want it to go well for him without restrictions.
Cutting the bureaucracy I agree, but replacing benefits with UBI doesn't work. It's universal, so everyone gets it. From the richest tycoon to the poorest. So everyone would have an extra £12k in their pocket. That will be noticed by the industries where demand massively outstrips supply like housing and so rent and house prices are likely to go up massively. So the poorest end up paying more for the basics but with less of a buffer because what they used to get in addition to help them is now something everyone gets.
I'm not saying UBi is a bad idea, but you can't use it as a replacement for benefits. As old people get a state pension should we remove all the price concessions etc that they get?
I do, and I'm sorry that my posts caused evident frustrations, as most sincerely it was not my intention or will.
All the best for your big day BSB!
