Gone where ?
He’s literally nothing like Regis
You not think that run he made in the 1st half with 4 of their players struggling to match his physicality and pace did not have a touch of Regis about it?
When Regis asked what turned around his career at Coventry he said Sillett changed the style to suit him.
For whatever reason - which he admitted - his ability to run distances was beyond him and he didn’t have the stamina.
Gould played long balls over his head and asked him to run and chase. It was a disaster - i think he went at one stage 34 games without a goal and thought about quitting the game.
Sillett got everyone to play the ball to his feet so he could turn and move with short bursts of energy
Gyokeres has far more stamina and pace over longer yardage. He creates far more chances for himself - Regis just couldn’t do that he was better at ball to feet and playing within a shorter area of the pitch
Was it not the case that Sillet, when he took charge, asked all the players how they thought we should play?I think it was Dave Bennett and Cyrille who convinced John Sillett to play to feet, thankfully it worked.

Something like that, I’m sure I heard Bennett say he and Regis suggested playing to feet suited the players we had at the time. Was it not the case that Sillet, when he took charge, asked all the players how they thought we should play?
I can see the Regis comparisons (and it's as much who else that we've had could you compare him to really?), ironically with the strength, but not actually that great in the air outside the penalty area at least! Regis was a decent header when running into the box, but the mistake was always that he was suited to a long ball when it just wasn't his game.Don't disagree with that, and maybe I was getting carried away with that run in the first half. Regis was very quick over 10 yards and could initially burst past players, or as I said before defenders would kind of bounce off him as he was so strong. Gyokeres has those same physical attributes, but yes more stamina than Regis had. Regis was a much better header of the ball though.
Depends if more than 1 club interested.Sky news saying he will be available in summer for between 10-15 million..as club afraid of losing him for nothing as short time left on contract?..
This is no surprise surely? We’ll know by the end of the season whether he’s going. I’m sure the club are already having conversations with his, O’Hare’s, Hamer and Sheaf’s agentsSky news saying he will be available in summer for between 10-15 million..as club afraid of losing him for nothing as short time left on contract?..
Similar build and similar explosive play. There are similaritiesWhen Regis asked what turned around his career at Coventry he said Sillett changed the style to suit him.

Yes. No one said they were the same and indeed no two players are entirely the same.Similar build and similar explosive play. There are similarities

There were plenty of examples of Regis going on long runs. The goal in the FA Cup Quarter Final springs to mind. I also remember a couple of long runs with the ball in the Semi Final and a goal at home to Charlton after he beat a number if players with the ball.
Neither want or wanted the ball played to their head although Regis was good in the air in front of goal. Regis was more explosive over a short distance and Gyokeres has more stamina.
I can't think of any striker from our past more like Gyokeres in style than Regis.
Still not over him going.
Vik will be gone, we've been so iucky to have him for another half a season.
Where’s this from?!Apparently contract ‘offer’ not accepted or denied by Gyo (& his representatives).
Always a bit of negotiation but it’s a step in the right direction.

Do you know that for certain ? a lot of contracts nowadays have that attached in the players favour or the clubs or sometimes both. You heard incorrectly
Yes. It is always mentioned in any new contract article if it exists, like dabo's was. If it did exist why would nobody have mentioned it?Do you know that for certain ? a lot of contracts nowadays have that attached in the players favour or the clubs or sometimes both.
Why should they ?Yes. It is always mentioned in any new contract article if it exists, like dabo's was. If it did exist why would nobody have mentioned it?
This was an interview with Sillett when Regis passed away.
It describes how he harnessed Regis attributes perfectly and that he was explosive over short distances and very skilful with tight control and creating for others but not at long chases over distance

so much speculation and Robins keeping a low profile on him, what the fuck do Sky know any way or any of the others for that matter??Sky news saying he will be available in summer for between 10-15 million..as club afraid of losing him for nothing as short time left on contract?..
Add a dash of Darren Huckerby (direct, unpredictable and sometimes erratic) and we have a definitive comparison.Similar build and similar explosive play. There are similarities
I only just got this. Well done young manAgreed. Quackers to suggest otherwise.
Reportedly been offered a new contract 2 weeks ago.
