Rhys Carr saying he's likely to be unavailable for the next couple of games - that sounds a lot more promising than the original 8-12 weeks.

They 'think' they can get him back for Boxing day

Not so sure myself

I hope I'm wrong, Haji Wright is a big fellow and once you start having injuries to your ankles it can keep reoccurring.

Just look at the problems that Harry Kane is having with his ankles.

Did anybody else see Wright outside the ground near the Jimmy Hill statue (about 45 mins after the game finished on Saturday)?

He wasn't on crutches, or in a boot and was happily posing for a few pics with some kids. When asked when he was back he said 2 weeks. Whether that means 2 weeks back on the grass or actually 2 weeks and he will be considered for selection I don't know but he looked to be walking pretty normally. I think he will be back before Christmas.

Would prefer him to come back when he’s actually ready even if that takes it into January.

Kane did have a spate of ankle injuries quite a while back, but AFAIK they haven't been a problem for a few years now. I think his current injury is his hamstring?

Does anyone else find it interesting that Haji manly played on the left up front and was top scorer. Now EMC has come in and playing that role and is also scoring from there. What does that tell us? Luck or something to do with balance of our team?

EMC scored 29 goals in all competitions during his 2 seasons at Peterboro,

Our lone striker does get very isolated and very little service at times. Though we seem to be getting more crosses into the box now so that may change.

If Wright was fully fit right now then you'd have to try him down the middle with EMC on the left I think. Might nullify Wright too much but has to be worth a go as Bassette, Simms and BTA don't look like scoring many through the middle currently.

My point was that the goals seem to be coming from the left whether it's Wright or EMC. Made me wonder about the team balance but more likely just a coincidence

This was obviously bullshit from the start.
We all saw him get injured, and he was never going to be less than 6 weeks so why give us this BS? Fans arnt stupid.

It's very weird, like when MR said he was told he couldn't reveal any details of injuries due to personal data protection or some bollocks. All very strange.

While I'm sure it's just a typo that sentence doesn't help your claim.

Personally I would need to see a lot more from EMC before we decide to move our best player out of his best position just to accommodate him.

EMC is in far better form than Simms or Bassette. And we don't know how Wright will perform at CF under the new manager.

I think it's worth a try, given the performances of Simms and Bassette so far this season.

If EMC keeps up this level of form, or close to it, over the next few weeks I'd be surprised if we don't see Wright given a few games up front to at least try it.

There is no way Lampard doesn't see EMC as part of his best 11 at the moment. He's been a revelation off the left since Lampard came in.
I think Wright is our best player, and if it is remembered in forum circles I was one of the first to say I thought he'd be best on the left of a front 3 from what I'd seen at the time. However there is nothing to say he can't be equally effective down the middle or the right under new management. EMC is simply undroppable right now.

Wright is our best player but is the polar opposite of Bassette in terms of running and pressing. He’s closer to Simms in that respect who FL doesn’t seem to fancy. He will have to change his game as both he and EMC have to play.

What about the number of games he played for us down the middle where he didn’t look very effective?

They were right at the beginning of his time here weren’t they? I personally think he was still settling in.

He has played down the middle a few times late on in games under Robins and looked good.

I don't know why you ignored the words directly after that tbh.
Wait and see what happens, again utterly pointless thing to argue about. I think there's absolutely no chance Lampard drops his top performer, if he does then people can @ me. Common sense says he'll be keen to get them both in the same team.

Wrights an extremely powerful attacker, I think he'll relish the balls we're getting into the box atm, including from EMC.

I just think we’re getting a bit overexcited off the back of EMC’s first good 90 minutes. It’s not a knock on him, and it’s not his fault he plays in the same position as Wright, but so far Wright has outperformed him and they can’t both play there. Maybe we end up having our cake and eating it, but there IS evidence that Wright can be less effective down the middle - we’ve all seen it - and if the experiment doesn’t work then I wouldn’t hesitate to drop EMC if it means getting full value from Haji.

But it's not just about getting full value out of Wright, it's about maximising the value of the team.

So if EMC and Wright (out of position) results in more goals than Wright (in his best position) and Simms/Bassette then it's worth it even if it means Wright himself scores a few less individually.

I guess we'll see. From Lampards point of view he's had 4 games and in those 4, EMC has 3 goals and 1 assist. That is some output, if he carries on its hard to ignore, Wright or no Wright.
I also think EMC is married to his position way more than Wright, who imo can be more versatile across the 3. Everyone concentrating on the suggestion he goes in the middle, honestly I think the right is also an option. He's extremely 2 footed, I'm not sure he has a stronger foot. In theory he should be just as effective there.
