It was non-stop 2 years ago regardless of the score. Dragged us into wins.
We were creating chances and looking like we could break teams down and play through them.....
Not recently though.....

Whilst I am sure there will be some activity in the January window, my god do we need it to get rid of that shocking midfield pairing, I fear that we have now missed out on a key selling point to the player. We are now no longer ‘so close to the Premier League last season and challenging this season’, we look like bottom half average at best. Huge regression, and I struggle to see how that would attract too many players who would really drive us up the table.
Certainly cannot see Brekalo coming in. Maybe Callum Styles, and it is just absolutely crazy to me how we didn’t sign him for the reported £2m release fee, yet spaffed away double that on a defender that is getting splinters in his arse!! (Yes I know they are actually comfy seats).
This Summer’s transfer dealings have (admittedly in hindsight) been very poor. £2m on a player where we don’t play a system that suits his best attributes. £600k on a goalkeeper who does not seem to be anywhere near displacing Wilson, Thomas started well but has looked as though he has some errors in him, but I think he will be ok. The £4m on Kitching just seems to be a ridiculous overspend, and I wonder if a £4m bid for McNally or selling Hamer to Burnley for £12m + McNally would have been better had that been possible.
Then we come to the strikers; Simms, I was never a fan of signing having heard about his lack of work rate from the Sunderland fans…and yes he did have a good game today…but we already had a goal poacher/hanger in Godden, and service/crosses into the box from wide has been poor in recent seasons, with the goals either having come from Gyokeres driving from the side into the box, or Hamer driving in. Cannot think of many occasions when a goal has come from the wing back driving to the byline to cut back.
Wright…well it was completely out of the blue and seemed to be almost a panic buy!
Good, we can get back to signing good players for £1m rather than poor ones for £3-8m!

Got nothing to work with on the pitch.

There were plenty of games like that 2 years ago.

The atmosphere is poor at home this season.

We were happy to be in the Championship post COVID and fans really got behind the team regardless. I don't sense that anymore. Even away from home, it's becoming a little quieter.

We need the 'us against the world' mentality back.

I will say there were points it picked up and MR seemed to acknowledge that at the time. But the booing at the end was really quite unsavoury and you could see it hit the players on top of their own bottling of the result.

Reminded me of those bottom half Championship finishes of yesteryear really

It is the only reason you clown, there were 15 seconds left
Love how you’ve left out the other 5,625 seconds in the game and blamed it all on 15 seconds. We are allowed to score more than 1 goal you know? No one would give a fuck about the last 15 seconds if we’d have popped a couple more chances in the back of the net.
To blame the whole game on one chance is ridiculous, we should have created more than 3 shots on target, simple as that.

In the actual circumstances tonight if we'd have defended that last 15 seconds we'd have won, it's really the only reason that we didn't at that point in time

Some fans think we’ll finish mid table

watching a different team

saddle has just basically said the old guard think the new players are poor, sorry if I’ve misread this @Saddlebrains
Evo whose opinion I respect quite highly still thinks upper mid table. Based on how poor things are in midfield, long term injuries mounting up and problems up front with a packed fixture list coming up, I can’t see past a relegation scrap.

We’ve got a lot of talent to come back. Arguably our four best players. We just need to sort the fucking defence out. Figure out who our best back line is and play them until they know each other inside out. Then in Jan sign at least two CMs for no more than £1.5m each.

I actually think Liam Kelly and Allen did well tonight

Our best performers are all players from L1 and that should shame a bunch of multi million pound signings. Doesn’t change that those players often weren’t even first team last season so clearly shouldn’t be out stand out players this year. £20m spent or not.

Just depressing, how have we so badly fucked it up

Good luck attracting any decent players here in January with the state this team will be in by then. Plus Southampton will be out spending big in the same window.

I got told Tats was a shirt selling signing

Laughed at the time

Seriously think Tats was brought in above Robins head now. Leading to me thinking maybe
.......
That's certainly not true, the club would need to sell 40,000 shirts with his name on them if that was the case....and that will not happen.
What is true is that the club were scouting another player when he impressed and that led to him signing.None of the new players have been brought in above Robins head, I've mentioned it before Dean Austin is a long term very good friend of Robins, bit of jobs for the boys going on imo.

I think the booing was largely frustration at the conceding of the late goal.

Then that’s fucking shocking that we’ve handed £35m to some mate of the manager TBH. He’s clearly miles out of his depth.

I didn’t say it, i should have said apparently as that’s what was being said, hopefully it’s not the case as I agree team needs to be close knit
It does. And whilst it isn't close-knit yet, I still don't hear the likes of Fadz, Godden or Kelly saying "Wright's shit" (even if they think it). They're too professional.

I get that it seems like those 15 seconds cost us the game, I get that and it’s really frustrating, but it’s not the main reason why we lost. We lost because we can’t create enough chances and we can’t put them away when we do create some.
I don’t disagree that those last 15 seconds were a big part of the game but it wasn’t the overall issue in my view, it’s more criminal that we couldn’t put the game to bed earlier in the game, hanging on in there with a fragile 1-0 lead is just asking for trouble.

We didn’t lose as much as it may feel like it!
