Well said Calista, " your bang on the money " :emoji_thumbsup:

His post was such drivel I couldn’t be bothered to even reply.

The notion we sold him “on the cheap” is utterly laughable.
Who used those words? We got as much as could be expected at the time, given that we sold him too soon, didn't give him time to flower in the first team, and consequently never got the benefit of his growing market value. Yeah, Anderson said we negotiated a stake in his future career, but it's most likely peanuts in today's market. He's worth at least ten times as much as we'll ever see from the deal, just as I predicted at the time. I'm realiistic enough to know we are minnows now, however if you think it was great business to sell at the first opportunity, maybe you're the one talking drivel?

The best young player to come through our ranks for decades only played a few first team matches for us, and as a fan that pisses me off. But I guess if you don't care about talent, it's easier to take a more mature and detached view about it.

We definitely sold him too cheap. We should’ve offered him the highest wage contract in the clubs history and let him take us up the leagues. He was always going to end up as one of the prems best players.

One player cannot take you up the leagues. Given his performances after he signed for Norwich it’s hardly likely he’d have reversed the horrors of the following season.

The highest wage in the club’s history would have broke FFP rules by the way.

Ridiculous statement.

Would hardly take us up the league with the team Mowbray assembled the next season

Also given that even lee Hughes was an £18,000 a week in the championship against league rules.

Ironically Dagenham & Redbridge Managing Director Steve Thompson told their fans forum this week that they'd sold their sell-on rights to us and FGR for Jodi Jones and Christian Doidge after they went into financial meltdown last season

We actually have 3.

With Cyrus Christie now starting right back at Fulham.

Brilliant achievement-shame they aren’t all playing for us .

Indeed.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City only have 5 each which shows even with mega money and the best resources possible how difficult it is to produce a player capable of playing at the top level

Was thinking we could count Sturridge as well but not sure how long he actually spent in our youth set up..

Sorry to continue the argument (!) But I was just asking. Personally I don't get it and having listened to the reasons put forward for the continuing interest still don't!
That's just my take on it. Each to their own, Just wish my twitter fed wasn't full of it because I couldn't give a fuck.
Many others as well as myself said we could see his potential and should have held out for more money. The usual suspects said we got a very good amount for him. I said that I could see him going all the way. Then the normal name calling started. I said I would keep an eye on how he did. Got told I was wasting my time after his loan back to us.

So I continue to keep an eye on him. And those who said he wasn't good enough are now questioning why I still keep an eye on how he is doing.

I just don't understand.....

Yes, also shows the ruin of money on football; whereas once upon a time young players at those clubs might have been given a chance, today it's a lot easier to spend £10m + on somebody due to the Sky windfall.

No one said he wasn’t good enough.

How much did we get for him?

We did similar for the likes of Kirkland... although that may have ended up a good deal, in hindsight!

Guess Jones is a wait and see, too...

A lot of this is assuming that he would continue to flourish at L1 and L2 level. Norwich have better players and possible better first team coaches.

Better players will inevitably afford players like Maddison time and space. If he was at Coventry with the likes of Andre Wright and Dan Agyei, his growth would have been stunted.

Look at Jordan willis, and Ryan haynes. Both coverted at the beginning of their careers. They’re still at square 1. You could question if they moved on, that they also would have flourished with higher ability players

Didn't they?

Oh well must have been imagining things yet again.

Too small. Falls over too easy. Championship player at best.

No don’t think so but as we sold him cheap I’m more interested in how much we received

Undisclosed.

Or do you mean with the money for him going to Fester as well?

Also undisclosed.

But we wouldn't have got the second amount if you was right.

Uh? So he went too cheap but we don’t know how much. Right.

The club has already had offers for Jones
At least two Championship teams still wanted to take him while he was injured
Think the lad is happy here though and can't wait to get back playing

Still not realised until and unless he goes, however. He could come back worse, he could decide to run down his contract - all manner of things.

Like I said you would make some sort of comment to try and make yourself look right.

I suppose we sold him for eleventy billion and got another eleventy billion for him.

Who is/was the highest earner in the clubs history, I remember Dion Dublin signing a million
a year contract ‘so that’s basically £20.000 a week, would anyone have got more ?
Stand by it, he did dive a lot to the point of embarrassment.
he did and it was embarrassing ‘and also the reason Norwich loaned him straight to Aberdeen
With the intention of toughening him up, it appears to have worked wonders.
