Just can’t get any rhythm going (and at his other clubs), which he partly has to take responsibility for.
I thought he was the best city player on the pitch against Norwich. The Robins takes him off at half time. Didn't look injured so strange decision and has not played since.

He has no energy levels over a sustained period

Jesus wept. It’s not been a walk in the park but people seem to be looking for reasons to be fucking miserable.

Yes Palmer has previous but Robins has already said he isn’t ready for two games in a week and with all the postponements it’s obviously been hard to get him closer to consistent match fitness. MR probably initially preferred to keep him fresh for Saturday but based on the second half performance, he may now want to keep things unchanged. We’ll see. Fat wages or not, Palmer’s regular introduction will be when MR sees fit.

It’s pretty stupid to make your one signing - who turned Cardiff down as he wanted to keep his high salary at Bristol - someone who isn’t capable of playing two games a week. You can’t whine about small squads and then blow your available budget on a luxury player

Agreed, although I'd hardly describe him as a luxury player.
I think he was brought in to provide cover for O'hare, but no one expected O'hare to get injured pre season.
But there's no excuse for him not being fit enough by now.
He could of come on for the last 20 minutes last night for Godden and helped the midfield out.

I think Palmer has looked good - He helped change the game at Sunderland, and won the penalty at Hull. As a previous poster said above, he was our best player at Norwich in the 1st half. That's pretty much all the games he has played. We knew he would need time to get up to fitness, so the postponements have hindered that. I would start him on Saturday, but I can't see Robins dropping Vik or Godden, and reverting to the box at the moment

He's clearly got heaps of ability.

Just don't think he suits playing the AM role on his own, I think he was brought in to play in the box alongside O'Hare where I think he'd be very effective.

We needed cover for O’Hare and with zero investment, we couldn’t look for a player commanding a fee. And being cover for O’Hare, was he ever going to be number one choice every game? O’Hare’s injury has meant we have to get Palmer match fit during a time when we’ve not been playing consistently.

Wages? Rightly or wrongly Waghorn isn’t playing much but when he does, he has made a decent contribution. The heat people piled on him has mostly disappeared.

Palmer has shown enough in the minutes he’s played that if the coaching staff can get him match sharp, he’ll contribute.

He could have come on for Godden at the start and at least done something !

Agree. I think O'Hare and Palmer behind Vic is the desired forward line.

The thing is, Robins says Palmer needs Match Fitness but then keeps him on the bench while Allen and Waghorn can barely walk.

It's like when he moaned about injuries but left Dabo on the pitch when he could barely put any weight on one of his legs against Derby in the cup.

He's also not getting minutes in the U23s (which I know isn't the same but better than nothing).

So how does he expect match fitness to just magically happen?

Genuinely interested to know what you base that on? I must admit I knew little about him and why he didn't play much for previous clubs. Your suggesting there is a stamina issue or is it a susceptibility to injury?

Again on a tight budget Waghorn was a gamble that failed - If palamer was a deputy for O hare signing him on a high wage when we need gaps to cover is really stupid - we were trying to sell O Hare so clearly yes he was supposed to be first choice

As it looks now, after 6 league games, you’re absolutely right. My point is; 6 games in and not fully match fit, isn’t enough to make your argument stick. Perhaps it’s a bit more prudent to look at this after a spell of uninterrupted games when he’ll have a chance to get up to speed.

Have thought since he joined he was a vivesh influenced signing and I am hoping he plays v Brum as can be a match winner given minutes on the pitch.

At the moment it does look like a strange / poor signing. He was supposedly signed as cover for COH, who as we all know is injured. Surly, this is when Palmer steps in to do what we signed him for and cover COH? Palmer has had a full preseason with us, and due to the pitch situation, plenty of time on the training ground getting up to speed. Hopefully he comes good.

No we were trying to sell O Hare

That’s not what the ITKs said. The plan was Hamer and there were no biters. Palmer was signed at the start of the season to replace Jones Shipley and Bright from last seasons squad. I’d assume if O’Hare went we’d have got another in with that money.

I thought Waghorn looked good in the number 10 role when he started a few weeks ago, surprised he got dropped

I'm hoping all along that the plan was to play Palmer and O'hare behind one striker, it's what we were screaming out for last season. Perhaps he isn't 100% suited to being that lone AMC.
