Transfer Rumour Marko Stamenic (11 Viewers)

If it all gets spent on the players fair enough, but the minute it’s not the fans will see through it. This is the big question mark in this transfer window. Robins got nothing in the last transfer window and the league season was derailed. We will soon find out what doug is all about.
You silly cunts have said this every window since he arrived. You’ll be saying it again in January, after what looks to be another productive summer, and then next summer you’ll say it again.

You’re a bitter little lunchbox who’s spat his dummy out with a few others because they can’t get their own way.

No you haven’t. Why do people lie about such trivial things?

How can you say he got nothing when we spent £6-7m? That is his second highest spend in the time he’s been with us.

What ‘nothing’ looks like is having Kasey Palmer as your only permanent signing in 22/23 followed up with Sean Maguire in Jan.

So it was a good idea to buy a player in January for next season to save a couple of million when we were in the play offs desperately in need of players?

People saying it’s good business for the club when it’s not even their money, I never get that.

Some people are that institutionalised by the club they will never say anything bad about it or believe it can do anything wrong, it’s comedy.
Talking of comedy, have you actually read what you are writing.
You actually believe that one player would have got us promoted.
I'm happy we didn't go up through the play offs, we will be automatic next season, if we hit the ground running.
Oh what a season can't wait.

What are you on about? There was no option to buy him early. We paid the asking price.
I’ve reread the source and you’re right yeah, they took 750k off the price but didn’t give us the option.

Mad that a L1 club essentially paid 750k for 6 months of one player.

MacAnthony was also clear in his podcast that on deadline day, there was an agreement to bring EMC to us permanently. The only caveat was that Peterborough wanted to bring in their own target on the day (probably the Harrogate player they’ve signed). As this was unsuccessful, the option was this; £5m now, and a 750k discount to let him stay or if you wait until the summer, we’ll be asking for more.

Bearing in mind Peterborough were still in run for automatic promotion, and almost guaranteed a shot via playoffs, it was 100% taking that deal.

Last season was always a rebuild season so whilst it was a bit shit we dropped off massively, there is no need to rush our incremental process.

It’s two separate issues. I can see why Doug wasn’t keen on paying 750k for 6 months. But we should have got someone else in, it was an error.
Exactly this. We shouldn't have paid more for Mason-Clark but we should have brought in a loan or two. We were fifth in the table and could almost certainly have made the play offs with a bit more depth.

It was a mistake for sure as there is no guarantee we will get another opportunity like that. But people make mistakes and the issue is have we learned. I will be disappointed if not but am confident we have.

It didn't need to be a transitional season and was a missed opportunity.

This so called incremental approach is going to be very expensive if we really are following it and don't go up. Endless transitional seasons and bringing in loads of players on long contracts will catch up on us. Not all succeed and we cannot get rid of the ones who aren’t good enough. By year three we will have a mass of players who we don't want under long contracts.
