true but historically, have cov teams have hardly been inspired to herculean feats at the ricoh! To my mind a manager can only be judged on:

1) results
got more then recent cov managers!
2) signings
only had chance to get kids & cheap ones in!
3) fitness (via training regimes)
how many late results we achieved?
4) tactics
lovely passing football, not hoof ball as micky adams tried!
5) formations
that match team capabilities!
6) substitutions
super subs galore, marshall etc
7) team morale
very positive!

Ultimately all of these traits are measurable, and none really affected by a points deduction! Finances maybe - points deduction no way! As others have said, the points deduction could have a +ve effect in that it allowed the team to achieve a blitz never say die attitude. And lc scoring for fun could have brought in complacency - we just will never know for sure!

Any manager should stand or fall on the first 6 points, and the 7th is a result of those 6 points. Is pressley the best possible manager available? Clearly not, as his replacement at falkirk is doing better with the same resources!

presso is value for money!

But you said that he should be given 3 years! You also point to Boothroyd having a glory season. To me either you back/ sack a manager based on current performance or you don't. His current form is 2 wins out of 10 - 3 wins in 2014.

Why is Pressley getting such a free ride? I just don't get it.

Did I f**k, I said he can only be judged as a good manager over longer period, I did not at any point say it must be at CCFC.
Wherever he is, if he fails he is out, that is true of any football managerial appointment at any club isn't it!

You are not interpreting my post correctly. I certainly don't have a FIXED & INFLEXIBLE view on anything, like you infer I have.

I'd take that !

I wouldn't that is still bottom of the table form and it gives one of our relegation rivals a win. We'd be in or around the relegation zone with 3 games to play, 2 away from home, the "home" game against top of the table wolves and we wouldn't have won any of our last 10. Even beating Oldham by far the most winnable of the 3 quite possibly wouldn't be enough.

We're really in the shit now, wins in next 2 matches vs Stevenage & Crewe are essential now.

This is form over the last 8 matches, abysmal.

Can see Pressley doing a Robbins in the summer and leaving us. Just listened to his interview after the game and the fact he's ripped into the loan players says a lot, he said he was dead against signing loan players at the start of the season and you can see why, they're not bothered what happens while they're here, they all go back to their own clubs at the end of the season, sounds like loans will be his only option next season, he won't hang around if that's the case. You can see he's getting frustrated, can't blame him, sounds too familiar again ?

If our form for our last 13 games had gone for the whole season to this point we'd be bottom of the table 16 points below Notts County, but it would be fine, we'd have a game in hand.

Difference is that Robbins had us playing great football and it was just a matter of time before another came in for him. But our form since Xmas has been miserable and we practically have the worse defensive record in the league.

Lucky for us then that didn't happen.

I wouldn't say we played 'great' football under robins. Quite often McGoldrick saved our bacon, we struggled at home, had a leaky defence but were much better away from the Ricoh where we could hit teams on the break.

of course it is absolutely (though not really luck of course) but should we stay up (and for the record I still think we will, though I'll feel differently if we've lost 2 more this time next week) then it shows what we have to look forward to next year.

Of course you won't believe that because you've had a nice mass produced letter that a computer put your name on that says we'll be competitive next year even though there is no evidence of that EDIT- Sorry the letter doesn't say that, not sure where I read Pressley say we'll be competitive next year), that we are almost certainly going to lose multiple talented players whose recent poor form due to their contract running out is a significant part of the reason for the recent results and there is no evidence that we can attract or afford to pay for anyone of a similar talent.

He picked up the club from a terrible position and turned things round pretty quickly. I remember us winning away at sheff utd and coming home thinking we could make the playoffs only for the points deduction to kick in and Robbins to leave. Best manager we have had in recent years in my opinion

Last seasons defence looks rock solid compared to the crap we've had this season

True, but still not solid when considering they had a championship centre half, 2 defensive central midfielders and a 5 man midfield to support it - only 3 teams kept less cleansheets than us last season. Let's not forget robins had a better funded squad that was underachieving. He did well, he's a decent manager but the football in general wasn't great.

I'm not hammering Robins, but it's hard to compare him with a £4m+ wage bill and Pressley with a £2m wage bill.
