As FootballCV Reds were clearly not 'stolen' as you put it, i can only assume that FootballCV Reds approached ACL, and actually WANT to play 35 miles away in such a fine stadium.
As it's empty, why not let them ?
After all, it's not CCFC's stadium any more - ask Tim and Joy.
Most clubs aspire to play in better stadiums, not worse.
It's much better than Steel Park (Corby Town FC's ground)
I guess no other teams from Coventry asked.

Maybe we should invite all the teams up from Devon as well then because they aspire to play in a better stadium, it's a joke.

what? clutches at straws? in what way? I think this news is just about irrelevant for what reason would I need to clutch at straws to defend that position?

If the ricoh had built up that they were announcing a major new tenant that sure this would be embarrassing, but they didn't even mention it, so it's not. Just like the main exhibition hall is used for everything from ten k people for a concert, to almost empty for a few kids being taught to ride. That doesn't mean its in the slightest bit embarrassing when they arrange for some kids to use the hall or the pitch.

But honestly unless something affects our ability to come back I couldn't give a damn what acl do, I'm just not very good at not responding to illogical nonsense.

Your joking right? I can imagine fisher, seppella and waggot reading this and saying "this is moving on right" and laughing. It's further evidence the place is a white elephant - ultimately it could become a huge burden to the Coventry taxpayer if this is allowed to carry on. I worry for the citizens of the city, I really do.

I'm just glad something is being done with the place. The place wouldn't be a white elephant if we were in a the Championship doing well. SISU's lack of ambition and incompetence has made it appear to be a white elephant.

your posts in this thread are a joke, you have no reason to belive they were invited rather than asked to use the venue and even if they were clearly chose to do so because it was best for them and the kids, as I've already said they train much closer to Coventry than Northampton, though the education part of the two year course is in northampton. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/previ...942,10z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x20ca20d055fa82a

Noggin your defence of this is the best joke of all. Maybe it was the best for CCFC to go to Northampton (You, I and the garden gate post may think differently) but does that mean it was alright to uproot them to Sixfields.. Yeah thought as much.

Really? Now there's no longer an anchor tenant surely every little helps?

The project as a whole has to be a going concern, not every single transaction.

Who cares. I can't imagine ACL were going round courting them, its more likley they've seen a great facility lying empty and thought it would be a good selling point for their academy if they said they played at the Ricoh. It's not going to impact on CCFC in any way so why are people getting worked up?

Seems to me the same people that moan it's empty also moan whenever it is put to use. They also claim to not care about ACL but can't stop talking about them!

I'm not defending this, I'm just responding to everything I think is rubbish, I think it's irrelevant, I don't know the situation at all but there is absolutely no reason at all to think the academy are doing anything but what's best for themselves and their kids, the fact that they train north of coventry and play in corby means they are obviously fine moving around, it makes where they play much much closer to the training area though slightly further from the education area.

Comparisons with moving ccfc to sixfields are ridiculous.

why the fuck is everyone getting so irate about this?!

I am a little sad that someone else will be playing there. However to me all it says is that it would be easier (and probably cheaper) to kick out a private academy if we were to go back, rather than the likes of a premiership rugby team.

ACL said they were moving on and they have. Whether you believe it to be good business or not .... well lets wait for the accounts if you are that bothered!

Well you said "whats best for the kids" Sisu are doing what they believe "is best for CCFC" no difference from what I am seeing, two organisations trying to prosper.

Are all those who claimed a phoenix club would never be able to afford to play there feeling stupid now?

If its £1 its more than SISU were paying!

Is that true?
They never paid anything?
Even when on rent strike they paid nothing?

Soccer CV are more a business than a "local amateur side". Basically rich parents who's kids havent been picked up by any clubs but want their little darlings to be professional footballers pay to send their kids to the academy where they get coaching from expros. They then play matches against non league sides to test them/put them in the shop window for clubs. I googled them a while back when I saw Ian Sampson was working there as he is a legend here at Northampton. Wouldnt be suprised if they have hired the Ricoh out to give their academy a bit of exposure and their youngsters a bit of big match experience. Makes their academy more prestigious to potential suscribers if they can boast playing games at a venue like the Ricoh. I'd imagine its mainly parents, scouts and opposition fans that attend so its not really comperable to the situation with you guys playing at the Ricoh.

It is quite amusing watching some on here ......

Mock the ACL business plan all you want, but surely if they are losing money its good for CCFC because the club might get it cheap?

If they are making money then all your mocking is pointless.

The Ricoh Arena has a new football tenant after a non-league amateur side signed up to play matches at the venue.
Football Conference Youth Alliance Midland Division side FootballCV Reds has agreed to play eight games at the 32,500-seater stadium during the 2014/15 season.
The Northampton-based club originally played its matches at Nene Park, before moving to Steel Park in the town in 2010.
The announcement comes just days after Coventry City Council leader Ann Lucas stated the council would support stadium operating company ACL as it looked to move on from the drawn-out saga which has seen Coventry City relocate to Northampton.
Liz Cooper, Ricoh Arena marketing director, said: “We are delighted to welcome FootballCV Academy to the Ricoh Arena and look forward to seeing them in action.
“We have been impressed by the professionalism shown by the academy and as a result they are a great fit for the wonderful Arena and its facilities, and we wish them every success in their games here.”
FootballCV Reds are managed by former Northampton manager Ian Sampson who led the Cobblers to a famous League Cup victory over Liverpool in 2010.
The club describes itself as the UK’s first private full-time professional football academy and provides a two-year, residential academy for 16 to 19 year-olds.
They offer weekly schedules which incorporate intensive football training alongside league matches, classroom based learning and higher education.
Mr Sampson said: “Our move to play home games at the Ricoh Arena shows how professional our set-up is and will make academy places even more sought-after.
“This is a huge selling point for the academy and will help us attract the best undiscovered talent in the UK, players who we can nurture and help realise their potential to hopefully then go on to become full-time professionals.
“Having been a player and manager in the English leagues, I know how inspiring it is to play in some of the best international venues and how that helps you improve and up your game. We can’t wait to move to the Ricoh Arena and continue the development of our squad.”
This week also saw Leicester City’s Academy play on the stadium’s pitch which has not been used regularly since the Sky Blues left in March 2013.

It's laughable, if this is their contingency plan then they have bigger troubles than I feared. Almost as big a joke as the new 'plans' for the new stadium

I'd like to see Cov Sphinx play a few games there. Their pitch gets a bit cut up at this time of year.

No why? The costs still have to be met its just now being funded by the Coventry taxpayer - I'm sure every citizen of Coventry is delighted at picking up the tab,

Its a shame that another team will play their, but its only 8 games and theirs more than that in a season so I don't think its as big an issue as some think, they may not even play on a Saturday. The issue for me is SISU, while their here we are going no where fast. NOPM

Well you said "whats best for the kids" Sisu are doing what they believe "is best for CCFC" no difference from what I am seeing, two organisations trying to prosper.

Sisu are not doing what they think is best for ccfc though, no one with any sence for a second belives thats what ccfc are doing, they have never been able to demonstrate even slightly why this course of action is best for ccfc and we all know how easily we can show it not to be in our best interests.

sisu are doing what they think is best for sisu.

if it turns out that the kids of this club are upset with this news then by all means criticise FootballCV but you have no reason to believe they are and if they are the issue is with football cv and not with the ricoh.

Before I get the response about why are you angry with northampton then? I'm not and never have been, in fact I defended them and cardosa early on, we should expect northampton to do whats best for themselves and ccfc to do whats best for us. The issue is with sisu, not northampton and if there is an issue here and there almost certainly isn't its with footballcv.

You'll probably find however the kids are excited by the news. For Coventry city fans though its a complete nonstory.

Why is it laughable? I've seen nothing that says ACL are taking a loss on this so we can sumarise this as ACL taking on a new customer from whom they will make a profit. Not sure what business school you went to but that's generally not regarded as laughable and actually is the aim of most businesses.

Sounds like they haven't been 'stolen' then Robo.
Also they are not a 'club' with a long history, traditions and local community (eg CCFC) .
They are a football business that has been established less than 10 years, and have no sentimental ties to any specific location.

Did I say I was angry with Northampton?

Sisu believe building a new stadium is best for CCFC and I agree with the concept that the Club should own it's own stadium.

If the kids are happy then I'd understand why, but some parents are bound to be unhappy and rightly so.
