They’re getting results but even their own fans think they’re playing shit. Why the Sheff Utd Defence Force is out in this thread I’m not sure. They’re definitely the most beatable of the top three, they’ve lost as many games as the other two put together.

They’ve got more points than any other team in the league and have averaged over two points a game in last 10

It's mental. He was a phenomenal player for us, one of the best I've seen and clearly likes the club, the fans and area. Will never knock him for any of what he did

But I get wound up by those who absolutely rim him off, when it's well known by those at the club he absolutely mugged us clean off
I get it with other ex players, but for any fan under 30, Gus and Vik are the best players they’ve seen at the club. Is it surprising that they’re lauded like they are.

Another take could be that he was signed for 1.5m, contributed absolutely loads and left for nearly 10x what we paid for him.

Also to those saying m he made a sideways move is disingenuous. He went to the PL and will more than likely be back next season.

Nope, the club also. He literally said offer me 20 a week il sign it

We did, with generous bonuses may i add, he then left it on the table for weeks, didn't sign, and fucked off

Hence my disdain for the section of our fanbase who would genuinely clean his smegma with their tongue

I mean where fans are concerned. There were sickly fans more or less cornering him for an answer to whether he was staying. It’s not hard to wheel out the ‘I don’t know/it’s out of my hands’ cliché’. They were foolish enough to believe a very good and popular player. And he was foolish enough to not play it cool.

In some cases you get contrarians, most cases seem to be people having completely unrealistic expectations of young players, this is more of a modern thing, you barely even used to see players until they were around 22 back in the day i swear. I prefer to see the potential personally and i don't see any comparisons between Bassette and Raphael for example, who is way more of a 'punt' signing.

As for Hamer, i loved him when he was here. But he lead us on and moved to an absolutely loathsome football club, i don't see why anyone should feel obliged to like him tbh. I think he's a fat little shithouse who's wasting his talent as he'd rather have a kebab than put the extra work in. Be 28 by the time next season starts and up to this point his peak is a standout Championship player. Hardly the generational talent some make out.

Not sure about when you exactly are referring to as being back in the day but throughout our years in the top flight our team was littered with players who became 1st team regulars by the time they were 20 never mind 22, through the likes of Carr, Coop, Blockley, Mortimer, Oakey, Blair, Gillespie, Thomas, Hateley, McGrath, Sedgley, Ndlovu, Hall, Eustace and right through to Robbie Keane of course.

In respects of Bassette I think some have taken a dislike to him as he comes across as a bit cocky. He clearly has potential though and he wouldn't be in the Belgium under 21's unless he had something about him. With that background there is absolutely no chance of him going on loan to a League 1 club, as some have suggested on here.

I really don't get the constant criticism either. Like you say, he's young and has a lot to learn. Fans slagging him off constantly ain't gonna help. Scored a couple for the Belgium U21s, so he knows where the net is. A lot of development ahead for him, so what's the issue for some?
The first 11 are doing so well they have to dig deeper to find someone to bitch about

This is my first post on them. People on here pre season were saying they were going to pan because they had to sell so many players. They haven't.

Just like when Burnley first came down, they will pan because of financial difficulties - they didn't.

The same when Leicester came down - they didn't pan.

I lived in Sheffield for about 5 years and connected with their fans better than Wednesday fans. I found United fans more like Cov fans. Wednesday fans more like Aston Villa fans. Just my take on it.

Tighter.
Before Friday: Win/Loss 35.29%. Draw 29.41%
After Friday (if we draw)
Win/Loss 36.76%. Draw 29.41%
Yes, but the percentage splits remain evenly distributed between us and them; nobody has the upper hand.

Unless you specifically meant that the percentages between win, draw and loss will be tighter. In which case, yes.

But that's not generally what people mean. They mean who's on top.

So 3 draws is not tighter than 1W 1L 1D?

More tighter than usual, to settle it.

Might only win by one goal rather than three.
Lati with the winner surprisingly.
According to the see-the-future potion I mixed up earlier plus gin.

They’ve done great. I just think we’ve got more chance of beating them than Burnley or Leeds.

I dont think people have taken a dislike to him but some fans seem to be calling for him to be played every game even saying Simms should be dropped for him.

clearly Bassette has a lot of potential and no one can knock his enthusiasm and work ethic when he has played but he is very raw and when you actually watch him other than constantly pressing defenders he doesnt actually contribute a lot as hes just constantly chasing shadows. One day he will be a regular first team player but for me at the moment he is no where near starting ahead of Simms or even Asanti

Not if you're trying to determine which team has the upper hand, no. Who's doing better, us, or them; no-one!

Also, not that it's the point, but your percentages don't add up.
I knew I calc’d the percentages wrong but I was driving & couldn’t be bothered to change. I’ll give you a point for noticing but I’ll still claim the win

You've nearly convinced me with this. But any player who leaves and plays us in the league at any point gets sh*t from me…. those are the rules when you pick up the bigger pay check.

Interesting to think when Hamer got applause when taking the corner. What would those fans in singers corner who applauded him have done if Shef Utd had scored the winner from it ?

The absolute jilted lover obsession from people about Hamer who have spent a year and a half now calling him fat and saying they don’t care about him and everyone else is obsessed makes this thread a treat. Keep it up guys. I almost believe you don’t care.

Don't know about others mate, but I do care, hence I think he's a wanker. Fucked us about and left us at, let's face it, the only opportunity he got to join one of the most horrible clubs in the football league. I find the hero worshipping of a Sheffield United player beyond embarrassing and small time tbh. But then having seen the Blunt apologism in this thread coupled with the Hamer love-in, I wouldn't be surprised to see a few half and half scarves flying about.

I also hope we play Sheffield United in a play off final if we get there but have a bad feeling it'll be Burnley, which is the harder game.

Nothing would give me more satisfaction than winning the play off final against the blades and singing it could have been you to Ohare and Hamer. Pure gold that would be
Not to mention the look on that wanker Wilders face, absolute prick of a bloke. Made some trouble making comments at the end of our last game against them too and quite a few on here lapped it up because they were butthurt about Robins. Turns out Wilder was talking shit, what a surprise.

I will be too drunk to sing anything coherent if that happens !
I also keep having nightmare flashbacks to the flooded urinals, when I think of our last trip to Wembley. A real eye opener for a national stadium.

Frank doesn't seem to do draws so either a high scoring narrow win by one goal as we don't seem to be able to keep clean sheets, or we get slaughtered.

I think we'll lose this one (hopefully i'm wrong), but I don't think we'll lose any of the other 7 games left afterwards.

No question (on paper at least) this is the hardest game we have left to play.
