Supporters' group tells Coventry City FC owners to clarify stadium plans (28 Viewers)

Good point. Other than screwing over the local football and rugby club, promoting the franchising of sport, having absolutely no history or links to the City, getting the Ricoh at a knock-down price by taking advantage of a council clearly obsessed with beating SISU regardless of the cost, and allegedly now putting the academy under threat, Wasps don't bother me at all.

Without using Google, who here could name three current Wasps players? Against the current real force in European rugby, about 21,000 fans could be arsed to watch. Some of them may even have paid for their tickets. 21,000! How many do you think CCFC would get if they played Real Madrid?
Rugby is NOT football though. Our owners have show an equal willingness to move away from Coventry. They have ruined nothing other than our current owners plans...& that by outmaneuvering them rather than (as far as the known facts stand IMO) any dirty tactics.

I agree, our present owners are useless. Why would we want to get rid of them to then be owned by people who are just as bad if not worse. Makes no sense.

Worse ? That's not possible.
The best thing is for them to keep away and let the club get on with it.
We need Tim Fisher to be removed and the JR out the way before I even consider building bridges.

Of course they are worse. Despite the Northampton debacle we are back in Coventry. Wasps' owners moved them permantly 85 miles despite an option to have a new stadium in London.

Your parking greed colours your judgement.

Did you support that or stand against it? Does it only matter when it happens to a team you happen to support?
I was totally against the Northampton move. I would be totally opposed to any owner moving my club.
The point is that having made the move they have now...after so many nomadic years - I doubt Wasps owners would move away from the city now. So I believe it would repair roots in the city for the football club. And strengthen bonds to Wasps given time.
Win-win for the owners of Wasps! Especially if they can bring success to both oval & round game

Why the hell would we want to strengthen bonds with an out of town franchise. I find this unbelievable tbh. I'd much rather our football club strengthens it's bond with the cities own rugby club. Why are you so keen for the Wasps owners to be successful. I'd much rather no one turned up to watch them and they skulked off back to where they came from with their tail between their legs.

I know. Shocking isn't it. "I was against us going to Northampton but i welcome Wasps."

The "nomadic" line is also a load of bollocks trotted out to excuse the move from London. Pathetic.

What new Wasps stadium ?
Anyway Wasps are established so I want to know what my clubs owners are doing about this mess.
If its a new stadium so be it, either way we need a long term deal at the Ricoh.
I suggest a 10 year rolling deal is a must.
Sack Fisher and get someone in to sort it.

Wasps are not established. Gates are down from last year. You don't get established in one year.

All genuine sports fans who care about Coventry sporting clubs want this vermin to fuck off back to the hole they came from.

Their not going anywhere unfortunately so we need to work with it.

No we don't. That's bullshit. Boycott them. Urge your friends to boycott them.

Tell anyone who supports rugby to fo and support the rugby team from Coventry. Explain wasps are just here for greed and have no interest in the local community.

Then perhaps you can hold your head high.

Idealistic view IMO
Reality - I want the best for the football club. My view is that the Wasps owners buying the football club would further cement us in the Ricoh & therefore the city. Wasps would just be a bolt-on that I have little feeling either way.
People on here might scoff about that - yet some of them are chomping at the bit to see an American Football franchise based in the UK (some by implication - even at the Ricoh if I remember rightly!)

All I care for is CCFC. I believe it would be a good outcome. They appear to be prepared to speculate to accumulate!

Then we'll have to agree to disagree my friend because I think it would be a horrendous outcome.

:claping hands: Almost Churchillian that one !!
Race to the bottom for you it is then.
Similar to Sisu pursuing the "we can't have it for free so you can't have it"

Yes...that is fine. We disagree. It IS just my opinion.

Out of interest when did you last support your local Rugby club down at The Butts? You don't need to answer that...the point is many peak out against Wasps fans that come here or anyone that toys with them by being enticed. But how many of those criticising go & feed the coffers at The Butts? If there were enough of them - Wasps wouldn't have bothered coming in the first place.

So if Manchester United decided to move here that's ok as they'd attract more fans than the local football team?

An unbelievable argument.

You know that for a fact do you? So you'll have something to back that claim up I assume?

Can't believe you're seriously suggesting that Wasps were looking at the stadium and rubbing their hands as the hypocritical council gave them a fivefold increase in the lease........but wouldn't have bothered with buying the Ricoh if our own rugby team were better supported.

Anyway..... I haven't read the whole thread... But have SISU prepared and shown any plans or financial projections for a stadium, Butts or anywhere else? No. So all wishful thinking. Nothing happening on that front- just a ploy in the negotiations with Wasps ( as with the academy rumour from Wasps ). Sort of confirms that the Ricoh is the immediate target.

Several posters on here suggested going to the Butts and supporting CRFC when we were in Northampton and it was amazing how many other posters shot them down saying crap like "I don't give a fuck about the egg chasers" etc. It's also amazing how many of those posters all of a sudden do give a fuck about the egg chasers.

Said all along that the best way to damage Wasps is by going to watch CRFC and giving them a financial boost to aid their rise to the top flight.

CRFC are at a disadvantage because of wasps being here. Any progress they make will be stamped out by wasps as it is competition for them. You must get that. It's common sense. Grendels post the other day about the whole ego thing etc was spot on. I imagine it didn't register though because you're too busytrying to arargue with him. Out of curiosity tony. Do you work for the council or the CET?

Why would we swap hedge fund owners who move their team at will for hedge fund owners who....move their team at will?

Yes. You've busted me. I work for both. What a genius you are.

Did I not just point out the best way to advantage CRFC and disadvantage Wasps? For the record I've never arargued with Grendull ever.

You did. I then pointed out in response that wasps wouldn't allow it. To which you haven't replied or shared your opinion. Is that because you agree with me or do you think wasps would welcome a direct competitor in the city there trying to establish in? Come on smart arse. Tell us what you think. You are specialist in all things wasps after all. I'm on my phone. Spelling mistakes happen. If that's what makes you smile though. Simple things and all that.

Aw, come on don't ruin it for them.

This time three years ago we were on a 10 game unbeaten run under Robins. The home gates were still less than the average now. The highest gate was 14k vs Shrewsbury on New Year's Day

Wasps wouldn't allow 1000's of people to turn up and watch CRFC giving them the financial backing to go on a promotion run? How would they stop free will?

I think you over estimate their powers.
