'Self interest of the country'???
I am on about Corbyn's self interest. All he is looking for is an opportunity to seize power when the time is right. He has no real desire to do what is right for me or you.
My take on crossing off Labour as a potential vote is precisely based upon that single-minded opportunism. Even Boris was laying things out from the perspective of what is right for the nation & not quite blatantly for Boris.

Now it'll really get interesting...I expect Corbyn only has an eye on power and would put his chances of getting in above anything else. Not that he'd reverse Brexit, but I think he will push for the collapse of May and the government.
Why would the Leader of the Opposition be concentrating on anything other than getting his party into government?
Well he has a choice
Vote with the government on freedom of movement and a customs union or against it.
Or show his true colours and admit he shares the identical vision for the uk with Europe as Reece Mogg
Can’t see that attracted many of his youth vote - do you?
Yes that would be why he wrote articles for and against Brexit before deciding which side to join.
Who Corbyn? Lol he’s voted against Europe at every opportunity
He’s a socialist - all true left wing people find the conceit of Europe repulsive
Funny that you actuality have far more more in common with the dribbling europhile May than the socialist ideologist Corbyn
Are you blaming an older generation than yourself for everything? An irrelevance in any case as your generation has fucked the planet to a near irreparable extent.
Are you blaming an older generation than yourself for everything?
Is it the man who invented the car, the man who bought a car that will do or is it the younger ones these days that seems to like a car much bigger than they need?
Is it older people that make do or is it younger people that must have the latest thing and discard the old items.
Is it the older generations that had well made clothes that lasted years or the younger ones that pay cheap for disposable clothes that are transported around the world.
Is it those who spent just about every holiday in the UK or those who fly all over the world?
Wind power is great for the environment unless you consider the places that are left totally polluted because of the materials needed.
So in principal the two sides have agreed a deal.
I read something today on there not being any visas needed for UK citizens visiting the continent after Brexit. Is that true?
Been mad busy with work and I've been trying to stay away anyway really. Just curious on this one as it was one of the things we were being told to be worried about.
Ha ha anyone who thinks the democrats has a good night is an utter moron
That is because the result said leave. A customs union isn't leave. And May said she is in charge of leaving.
And joined the side that is most likely to bring about a General Election. He considered the options, certainly he did that - & chose the option most likely to depose the existing Government.Yes that would be why he wrote articles for and against Brexit before deciding which side to join.
Free higher education? Most of us couldn't afford to take up free education. It was only for those with rich or very well off parents. You were self funded. These days you have many taking courses that don't give qualifications that will do any good. Then they complain they have debt for nothing. I couldn't afford higher education after finishing school. I had to work and study at the same time.Of course not for everything. But let's be clear, my generation will be the first to be worse off than the one before. Crashing the world economy, wrecking the climate and failed wars all over the place are what we're inheriting. We can add Brexit to the list too. The generation before decides they are worthy of free higher education but the one after must pay 4 or even 5 figure sums for degrees worth a fraction of what they once were.
The young of today can make some changes but the damage is nearly irreversible when it comes to the climate. Particularly when the Yankee doodles have a man in charge who thinks it's a hoax.
So you agree with me then that being in the customs union isn't in or out without knowing the details. Look back. I mentioned Norway before you did.Says who? It’s empty rhetoric to claim that a customs union isn’t leave. The question was on or out and it is possible to be out and still have a customs union. The Norway option is a customs union, the Canada option is a customs union. Rees-Mogg and clan don’t want you to believe it but a cross party majority believe it. May backed herself into a corner with all her “populist” leave means leave bullshit (which as the last election shown wasn’t as popular as she gambled on it being) and she’ll end up paying the price for bad politics and rhetoric.
But would they be able to get it through?I note that articles are starting to appear in the news this morning claiming that the deal that has been struck does indeed include a customs union. If that’s true then it would explain the individual meetings with her cabinet yesterday ahead of a full cabinet meeting today. Wouldn’t be surprised if we see some more resignations. Interestingly though this turn of events could not only save brexit but also save her job.
Bloomberg - Are you a robot?
Sterling surges on Brexit news and the customs union is set to stay
But would they be able to get it through?
It’s labour policy so labour should back it, it doesn’t mean a two tier brexit one for Northern Ireland and one for the rest of the U.K. so the DUP should back it, plenty of Tories back it, even a Lib Dem MP on question time a couple of weeks ago reluctantly backed it because it has cross party consensus. If it has cross party consensus and it’s the oppositions policy it seems far more likely to get through than any other type of Brexit you care to mention.
If the rumours that are starting to circulate are true regarding the deal we’ll know soon enough. Then the question will be why did it have to take so long to get to this point if that was always the consensus in our sovereign, democratically appointed parliament. You could argue that the government try to go rogue on brexit.
That is the Norway version.
Yeah I know and it was one touted by Farage and other Leavers as being a viable option ahead of the referendum.
In case anyone is interested here’s a link to the petition. One Market, millions of jobs: sign the petition
Still might not be too late to sign.
The reality is that many people just do not believe that Open Britain, a campaign backed by people like Peter Mandelson really cares about them.
The Pound is rising, Employment is at record levels, wages are rising, our economy is performing better than Germany, immigration to the UK is falling in numbers and our population will consequently stop growing at an alarming and environmentally destructive rate, pollution will come under control with better vehicles and less fossil fuel based energy, pressures will ease eventually on the infrastructure and less houses/hospitals/schools will have to be built. Water resources will be under less threat and less wildlife shall be destroyed to feed the all consuming needs of more people.
I do hope we are not going to let 10 MP's in Ireland scupper everything !!
But 1 Billion to N Ireland in extra funding from a government budget of circa £800 billion is well worth it, the money boosts infrastructure, job creation, health and prosperity......and prosperity is what helps keep the peace !of course they are, we'll be fucked if we leave without a deal and we'll have bunged the DUP 1 billion for the privilege of letting them scupper any potential deal.

I'm not saying that it isn't a viable option. As you may have noticed I have mentioned it countless times. And I got shouted down for coming out with such rubbish. The EU doesn't need us and all that crap. I have said all along that I could see there being some sort of trade deal agreement. But I expected it to be a last minute thing. The EU wanted to try their best to keep us in. That doesn't look far off either.Yeah I know and it was one touted by Farage and other Leavers as being a viable option ahead of the referendum.
It is completely unsustainable for the UK to continue to take 250,000 people a year from wherever. Hopefully a control on EU migration will be followed by a stricter points based policy on all incomers apart from perhaps a quota of the most desperate genuine refugees. The pound is rising because it looks like we may have a deal. Wait until we see what comes out. It is good that wages are at last rising. EU immigration has fallen by 100000 as people are finding jobs elsewhere or in their home country. The effect of 100000 leaving will not solve all the UK problems, as EU migration of well over 2 million did not cause the UK‘s problem of some regions and people being left behind economically. If you think we will need less hospitals and carers when the baby boomer bulge starts kicking in, as these people will need careing for in old age, then you are being naive. It will be good when the Electric buses start being used instead of Diesel. Mercedes are Running them out now. They cost at twice as much as conventional buses, but save money over time. The DUP are only interested in their base of approximately 28% ( according to polls ) of a low population province.
