All plausible explanations, and naturally none of them indicate a competent plan to get us out of troubleKind of a cleft stick really potentially short of players if they go potentially short of money if they don't. Perhaps Slade set the values with half an eye on needing to keep players not sell them. Perhaps the sort of clubs interested were never going to pay the price. Perhaps it was all talk. Perhaps they realise that if we do get relegated the players we have will be more affordable than bringing others in. Perhaps the value was right and the offers poor. Perhaps they got their timing wrong, bluffed and messed up. Perhaps they really did not want to sell or need to. Who knows
if we are in league 2 we need a new manager not new contract for slade.
Whichever league we are in he can fuck off he is useless.
Exactly!!
He won't be remembered half as much for the 8th place as he will for the failure and will be remembered for taking us from top to bottom 4.
Simple fact is that after being top and then in the top 6 for so long and also 11 points clear of 7th, we should have never, ever have finished the season 8th.
absolute bullshit,. he will be remembered for having us dreaming, having us top, hacving us play good football and having us score lots of goals first anf foremost.
then there will be asterix of drop off and missing out on playoffs. maybe one about recruitment but cosnidering our owners that ones prob not worth looking into too much.
listen to youtself otis. you are actually saying someone who gets close and fails should be criticised more than someone who just fails.
i hope he turns it round but its not looking good

Me too!Drop off?
It was a monumental fucking skydive.
Then he had the opportunity (no doubt with limits) to rebuild in the summer with a known budget. He fucked it up. It's a shame because I thought he was the manager to bring some good times back.

Don't get me wrong, I think we'll go down and Slade will go and he'll have to take a portion of blame if that happens. As you say though we were screwed before he came in. Cc4l has a thing for Mowbray, you'll never change his mind, haha.Me too!
CC4L seems to think I really dislike TM, yet I really, really rated him until the most awful of slumps. Then at that point I got a bit annoyed with him, but was prepared to let him have another go at it this season.
In the summer he completely made a balls up of the recruitment and left us with a very poor squad.
For me Clarke and Beavon have strengthened us, which then just conjures up of just how bad were we before.
Venus was right on this. He may have come out with other stuff that was guff, but he said we are not good enough for League One and he has been proved to have been absolutely bang on.
Top scorer with 5 goals, silly goals given away, can't compete physically and only 4 wins to our name all season.
That tells you how bad a side we have. Clear as day.
Slade took over a very poor side with problems all over the field.
I am not sticking up for Slade, but he was given the job of miracle worker.
I know. Why he has to keep on banging on about him relentlessly though I have no idea.Don't get me wrong, I think we'll go down and Slade will go and he'll have to take a portion of blame if that happens. Not selling Haynes is a way of winning over the fans?
I know for a fact that we were offered £325K for Willis and £125K for Haynes
Not sure about Stevenson but the strong rumour is £600K plus loads of add ons
Haynes offer was a lot less and I assume the club think they will get more in the summer. Willis is never going to attract a Championship club and League one clubs will never pay those fees.
It is all very simple. Take off the earmuffs!!
Tony Mowbray this season had a clean slate. No games played, pre-season recruitment at hand.
Slade came in with us ALREADY in the bottom 4. He inherited a side that was already failing.
Slade may well now fail, but he had already inherited a failing side.
How is it compatible that a manager who comes in with us already in the bottom 4 can be compared to a manager who had us 11 points clear of 7th place and then failed?

Yeah, wrong in your tiny little mind.Mowbray came in and kept us up 2 years ago. Its possible for a good manager.
Stop replying with same bs. You are wrong.
It's not about the 10 games. For some reason you keep focusing on the 10 games. I have no idea why.Not at all. Im happy to say mowbray will have to accept a portion of blame. But its a smaller portion tha otis says.
I will not accept someone blaming him whilst saying a manager who has half a seaosn never had a chance anyway but a guy who had 10 games is really to blame.
Of course he won't, he will have worked a miracle by firstly overcoming the shitfest he inherited from them, secondly by motivating the players who have had all confidence knocked out of them by the abysmal summer transfer dealings and constant cap coming from the clubs hierarchywell he will share that mantle with mowbray and venus.

Where he failed was in his putting together of a very poor squad. Very clearly.
His summer recruitment led to us being when we are. He left us right down the in the bottom four of the table and there we have stayed, apart from the Venus little blip.
Would have took all of them to be honest. As long as Slade was given 1 million to get two strikers and a hard man.
In combined total that probably 500k less than it should be.
However staying up would be worth losing £500 k for.
Is Haynes not out of contract in the summer. If not they will get more if he plays a full season.
If Stokes takes over and he just sits on the bench we won't get an offer for him.
I agree and think we should have accepted the Willis offer.
Whichever league we are in he can fuck off he is useless.
Have you been to any games Slade has been in charge of? I think peoples reactions to him are justifiable, it always the fans who first sense the bullshit, they did with Pressley straight away, took a few months to work Mowbray out, it's took less than 6 games to work Slade out. Please justify him playing long ball up to two small strikers? It is certainly true that the last few games have been really poor, and the signs don't look good, but it is far too early to write him off. We should be judging him at season's end, when we can see whether progress has been made.
Look who is liking your posts. The guy who said slade was the savior in the league and now has egg on his face. Im sure he wnata to blame everyone but slade
When you made that thread you got 99% disagreeing with you. So stop being rude about tiny minds and realise you are chatting shit.

Me, rude?
Yeah, okay. Trolling up to 11 tonight I see and less of the 'I'm right you're wrong stuff.
Surely this is all about opinions. Very clearly there are a lot of people of the same opinion, that of Mowbray failing last season and that of him building a crap squad.
Just look at the players he signed or brought in
Ghadzhev
Reid
Kwame Thomas
Aygei
Wright
Turnbull

Disagreeing with what? I asked for people's opinions and like I said I was only talking about from a statistical position of 1st to bottom 4 and then if we go down.Look who is liking your posts. Really? When I have seen him he seems reluctant to go over the half way line and strolls about. He brought in some rubbish but I don't think we have given Ghadzev anytime to settle it's a different way of playing and a different environment also in the bits I have seen him he seems to want to get in the opposition box and score do he wouldn't fit in with Mowbray or this useless clown that's ruining us now.
Really? When I have seen him he seems reluctant to go over the half way line and strolls about.
He was awful against Brighton in the EFL Trophy. I am convinced he will be gone.
Just seems to be here to go through the motions and pick up his pay packet.
That's my deduction anyway. Surely he has had enough time to adjust now hasn't he? And he has played a fair bit of international football too.
Hardly worth consideration at those levels. All rejected?
I believe we have the players to be doing much better. I also believe we need a goalscorer like Armstrong who can be relied upon for a goal.
Top that with Slades seemingly ineptitude in both tinkering too much with the side and his poor tactics. We don't have the personnel to play the way he would prefer.
He needs to play to strengths of the players we have. You can see the awkwardness of some players on the pitch looking almost lost as to what their job is.
I hope he gets a good old 4-4-2 and picks the players for it. Have them play for the shirt, harassing and chasing down balls and getting in the oppositions face. Get some real endeavor going and spirit. Give Stevenson his head and get some pace in the side. If he stays negative to not lose, then we will fail. It won't be on TM it will be on Slade. We have got far worse under his stewardship.
